Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by taking a clear position that saving money is essential for everyone, including young people. The writer provides relevant ideas to support this view, such as financial stability, responsibility, and future investment. However, these ideas are somewhat under-developed and lack the depth expected for a higher band. For instance, the discussion on COVID-19 is a relevant example, but it remains brief and basic. While the writer mentions an opposing view regarding children enjoying their life, it is also rather superficial. Overall, the task is addressed adequately, placing it firmly in the Band 6 category.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay has a coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing, moving from an introduction to body paragraphs discussing stability, discipline, and opportunities, followed by a counterargument and conclusion. However, the cohesion often relies on repetitive and mechanical transitional phrases such as 'To begin with,' 'Moving on,' and 'To elaborate this.' Furthermore, referencing is sometimes unclear, and the mechanical linking detracts from a smooth logical flow, aligning the text with the Band 6 descriptors.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student displays an adequate vocabulary range for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'financial stability,' 'resilience,' and 'entrepreneurial ventures.' However, there are numerous spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, such as 'stabilty' instead of stability, 'encourge' instead of encourage, 'logicsl' instead of logical, 'finanical' instead of financial, 'isuess' instead of issues, 'dsicipline' instead of discipline, 'collage' instead of college, and 'speding' instead of spending. Despite these frequent errors, communication is rarely impeded, which is characteristic of Band 5.5 to 6.0. Awarding a Band 5.5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and some complex sentence forms, such as 'Many people think that saving money is essential for all individuals, also for the younger generation.' However, there are frequent grammatical errors, including missing prepositions, incorrect verb forms ('provide stabilty' instead of providing stability, 'when an individuals have saving so they safely can planning'), and awkward phrasing ('without request in front of their parents for fell it'). Punctuation and article use also need improvement. These errors persist throughout the text, though they rarely impede overall comprehension, fitting the Band 5.5 profile.
