Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response attempts to address the prompt regarding whether everyone should save money for their future, stating a clear position of complete agreement. However, the development of ideas is extremely repetitive and relies on simplistic assertions rather than well-supported arguments. Throughout the essay, the central justification revolves almost exclusively around the notion that life is impossible without money and that everything is bought with money, seen in phrases like 'without money life is not possible' and 'with money buy everything so money is important'. While the writer does introduce an attempt at a broader social perspective by mentioning respect and love, this point is underdeveloped and circular. There is a lack of specific, relevant examples from personal knowledge or experience, as the examples provided are vague and unconvincing. Consequently, the task is addressed only partially, aligning closely with the descriptors for a band 5.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The essay is divided into an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion, showing some basic attempts at paragraphing. However, there is a lack of clear overall progression, and the logical flow is heavily hindered by repetitive arguments and awkward transitions. Cohesive devices are used rather mechanically or inappropriately, such as using 'Therefore' and 'While' in ways that disrupt the logical connection between sentences. For instance, 'While love and respect is more important but this is not possible without money' demonstrates poor control of subordinate clauses and cohesive contrast. Furthermore, referencing is frequently unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the exact progression of thought. Because of these structural and organizational weaknesses, the overall score falls into the band 4 range.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.0

The vocabulary used throughout the essay is basic, repetitive, and heavily restricted. The student continuously recycles the same fundamental words and phrases, such as 'money', 'important', 'future', and 'without money', across almost every sentence. There is a noticeable absence of less common lexical items or idiomatic language, and attempts at collocation are frequently awkward or incorrect, as seen in phrases like 'problems create without money' and 'some people could have a are more money'. Word choice errors and lexical inaccuracies are frequent, and although the core message can generally be deciphered, the vocabulary strains the reader and remains at a band 4 level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0

The grammatical range is severely limited, consisting mostly of simple and attempted complex sentences that are consistently faulty. The text is riddled with frequent and systematic errors in tense, subject-verb agreement, word order, and sentence structure. Examples include 'In this statement talking about to save money', 'we should not make possible everything', and 'everything buy with money'. Subordinate structures are mishandled, and punctuation is rudimentary. These persistent errors cause considerable difficulty for the reader and obscure the intended meaning in several places, fitting the criteria for a band 4 performance.
