Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is considered that every individual should make an effort to save money for their future. I largely agree with this view because saving some amount can help people to deal real-world challenges and achieve success in their lives.

To begin with, It is very crucial for everyone to save money because it can help individuals to face real-life challenges in the future. This is because, the world is evolving and with each passing day, there are changes in our surroundings which includes inflation and high taxes. Therefore, despite these changes if people will secure some amount from their current incomes, they can prepare themselves to cope with these situations. Furthermore, some people might face unpredictable challenges in their lives, such as, health complexities and financial crisis, which can require abundant amount of money to treat these problem. Consequently, people should save money for their unpredictable future. For instance, if someone loss their employement, they can use their savings to some extent and make their life easier without overthinking about it.

Another important factor is that saving money can help bring success in their lives and improve overall well-being. People can save money for their childrens' future higher education because it requires a lot of money for admission. As a result, children can enroll in their desired institutes and prospects in their career. Furthermore, savings can bring you a bright future if they are used for a right purpose, such as, investments. For example, some people can save money which they can use for investment several businesses and properties, as a result, they could get benefits from these in the future.

In conclusion, I firmly believe that it is very significant for everyone to save money for their future lives because they can prepare themselves to fight real-life difficulties, despite having unpredictable situations in lives. Moreover, their children can get benefits and propects in their career, which as a result can bring a successful future.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The student addresses all parts of the task and presents a clear position throughout the response. In the introduction, the writer states, 'I largely agree with this view because saving some amount can help people to deal real-world challenges and achieve success in their lives.' This position is maintained and supported throughout the body paragraphs. Ideas are extended with relevant examples, such as discussing inflation, health complexities, and funding for higher education or investments. However, there is a slight tendency to over-generalise or repeat similar points regarding future challenges. Overall, the task is successfully covered, and the response fits the criteria for Band 7.0.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response exhibits a clear logical organisation and progression throughout. Each paragraph has a distinct focus, beginning with an introduction, followed by two well-defined body paragraphs, and a concluding paragraph. Cohesive devices are used to link ideas, such as 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', 'Consequently', and 'In conclusion'. However, referencing and cohesion are occasionally a bit mechanical, and some sentences feature repetitive transitional phrases like 'as a result'. Paragraphing is used appropriately, maintaining a clear overall structure. This performance aligns well with the Band 7.0 descriptors for Coherence and Cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'inflation', 'health complexities', 'financial crisis', and 'investment'. However, there are noticeable lexical inaccuracies and awkward word choices, such as 'deal real-world challenges' (missing 'with'), 'abundant amount of money' (unnatural collocation for money), 'loss their employement' (grammatical slip in spelling/word form), and 'investment several businesses' (missing preposition). While communication is never impeded, these frequent minor errors in word choice and collocation prevent the response from reaching Band 7.0, making Band 6.0 the most appropriate fit.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The writer uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over complex structures (e.g., 'This is because, the world is evolving and with each passing day, there are changes...'). However, there are several grammatical errors and punctuation slips throughout the text, such as unnecessary commas ('This is because, the world...'), missing prepositions ('deal real-world challenges'), subject-verb agreement issues, and spelling errors ('employement', 'childrens'', 'propects'). Despite these errors, they rarely impede communication, and the writer manages to maintain clarity. This balance of mixed structures and persistent errors corresponds to a Band 6.0.
