Student answer (Band 5.5)

Many people believe that saving money for future is beneficial for everyone, specially young generation. I partialy agree with this statement because this approach helps in a challenging situations. However, I disagree with this view because I think young people should spent their money in order to fulfil their desires.

On the one hand, I believe that individuals should save some for their future in order to deal with bad circumstances. Serious health diseases are alarming situations for the health and healthcare centers demand high amount of money for treatment. For instance, cancer is a silent disease and people usually do not get to know at initial stages. Lately, when they get to know about this then hospitals and doctors demands a large amount for treatment purposes. Therefore, there saving help them to deal with difficult situations.

On the other hand, I think young generation should spent money to fulfil their dreams. If they do not fulfil their desires, that make them furustated and affect their mental well-being. For example, nowadays, everyone wants to buy an iPhone because they think if they do not able to get it, society will not accept them and they will look inferior. These type of thinking affect there mental state. As a result, youth should spent money on what they want for mental and physical fitness.

In conclusion, although money saving is a effective measure in challenging circumstances, I believe younger people must fulfil their dreams for inner satisfaction. From my perspective, everyone should adopt balanced approach such as save some amount of money from salaries and other spent on buying things, what they want.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by presenting a clear position on whether everyone, including young people, should save money. The student attempts to present a balanced view, agreeing that saving is important for challenging situations while disagreeing to an extent by arguing that youth need to spend on their desires. However, the development of ideas is sometimes limited and over-generalized. For example, the argument about buying an iPhone to gain social acceptance is a bit narrow and lacks broader analytical depth. The position is maintained throughout the essay, but some supporting points could be further elaborated to reach a higher band level.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay has a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs presenting opposing views, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate ideas. Cohesive devices are employed, such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', 'For instance', and 'In conclusion', which help guide the reader through the text. However, referencing and transitions are at times slightly mechanical or repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'I think' and 'I believe'. Overall, logical organisation is maintained throughout the response.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the student to communicate their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'challenging situations', 'healthcare centers', 'initial stages', and 'inner satisfaction'. However, there are notable word choice and collocation errors, such as 'saving money for future' (missing an article), 'specially young generation', 'I partialy agree' (spelling error), 'bad circumstances', 'there saving' (incorrect pronoun), and 'furustated'. These errors do not impede communication, but they prevent the score from reaching a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing conditional structures and relative clauses (e.g., 'If they do not fulfil their desires, that make them furustated'). There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('hospitals and doctors demands', 'These type of thinking affect there mental state'), spelling errors ('partialy', 'furustated', 'effective measure'), and missing articles. Despite these errors, the meaning is generally clear and communication is rarely impeded, placing the grammar comfortably within the band 5.5 to 6.0 range.
