Student answer (Band 6.0)
To survive in this world, money is considered as the most important factor. It is said that money is power. Having money in your bank account acts like a saviour of your life.
In my point of view, it is very crucial for everyone, including young people, to save money for their future. There are a couple of reasons behind this. Firstly, it allows adults to pursue their dreams, such as getting higher education at a renowned university after finishing their school. Secondly, health is inevitable; nobody knows when they will face health issues. Present-day treatments and even diagnosis of diseases are very expensive if one does not have any savings, things will get very difficult. For instance in third world countries where people hardly manage their day-to-day activities, the death rate is quite higher as compared to developed countries where they have better health facilities for their citizens. But in poor countries, due to worse economic situations, the population is not able to save enough amount for treatments.
As we all are aware that, buying a luxury car is a wish of every individual so to fulfill this dream, accumulating money is a fun process. Just imagine that when someone buys their anticipated vehicle, the feeling of driving is beyond expectations, and one feels out of this world.
In a nutshell, saving pennies is both important for your financial independence and for facing serious wealth-related challenges. Under this umbrella, not only older people but also youth come.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The student addresses the prompt by discussing the importance of saving money for the future, including young people. A clear position is stated in the introduction, and reasons are provided covering education, emergencies, and even buying a luxury car. However, some ideas are slightly under-developed or tangential, such as the lengthy detour into third-world health statistics or luxury car purchases, which distracts somewhat from a cohesive argument about future financial security. Furthermore, the length requirement of 250 words is not met as the text contains 248 words, resulting in a necessary penalty under Task Achievement. Despite these limitations, all parts of the task are addressed, earning a band score of 5.5.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay displays a generally logical organization with basic paragraphing. Introduction and conclusion paragraphs are present, and the body paragraphs attempt to group related ideas. However, the progression of ideas can feel disjointed at times, particularly the sudden jump from health emergencies to buying a luxury car. Cohesive devices are used, but they are sometimes mechanical or awkwardly phrased, such as 'Under this umbrella, not only older people but also youth come.' Referencing is generally clear, but the overall logical flow suffers from abrupt transitions between paragraphs. This places the response comfortably at Band 6.0 for Coherence and Cohesion.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary suitable for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'saviour', 'inevitable', 'financial independence', and 'accumulating'. However, there are notable lexical inaccuracies and awkward collocations, such as 'health is inevitable' (instead of health issues being inevitable) and 'death rate is quite higher' (instead of much higher). Word choice is occasionally simplistic or unnatural. Nevertheless, the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the main messages without severely impeding communication, aligning with the Band 6.0 descriptors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The writer uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at subordination and conditional structures, such as 'if one does not have any savings, things will get very difficult.' There are several grammatical errors and awkward structures throughout the text, including punctuation and comma splices ('As we all are aware that, buying...'). Some sentences are slightly convoluted or unnatural, but they rarely impede overall communication. The control over grammar is fairly consistent in simpler constructions, while complex attempts show frequent minor errors, justifying a band score of 6.0.
