Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
The student addresses the prompt by agreeing that everyone, including young people, should save money for the future, presenting some relevant ideas such as surviving difficult situations like the corona period and funding one's studies independently. However, the response is severely underdeveloped and falls well short of the 250-word minimum, containing only 154 words. As a direct result of this severe under-length penalty, the task is only partially addressed, leading to a band score of 4.0 under the official descriptors.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay displays basic paragraphing, separating the introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. There are basic attempts at logical organization and sequencing, using cohesive devices such as 'First and foremost', 'In addition', and 'In conclusion'. However, referencing is sometimes unclear, and the mechanical repetition of transitional phrases and simplistic links limits the overall flow. Because the information is arranged with some basic logical progression despite its brevity, it aligns best with a band score of 5.0.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, with frequent spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'play crucial rile' instead of 'play a crucial role', 'otehr', 'sav', 'expensive' instead of 'expenses', 'Youngerest', 'thwir', and 'thongs' instead of 'things'. The lexical range is narrow and minimally adequate, making the reader work harder in places due to noticeable errors. These characteristics place the lexical resource firmly at a band 4.0 level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0
The writing demonstrates a very limited range of sentence structures, consisting mostly of simple and occasionally faulty complex sentences. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues, missing articles ('in future', 'use their saving'), and incorrect verb forms ('they will not tease the parents for deposit the fee'). These errors cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect the descriptors for a band 4.0 in grammatical range and accuracy.
