Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
In recent years, it is quite essential for everyone, particularly young people to save money for their future. I strongly agree with this statement because save money helps people to lead a better lifestyle and they can use it for other purposes; however, from young age, it is much more better to spend money for travelling or completing other dreams.
To begin with, there are several reasons why it is significant for young people to save money for their future. Initially, saving money from an early age can provide individuals with greater financial stability. Young people may not have a high income when they start their careers, but developing the habit of saving can help them build a financial cushion over time. This money can be particularly useful in emergencies, such as losing a job, facing unexpected medical expenses, or having to repair essential household items. Therefore, even relatively small savings can reduce financial pressure and prevent people from relying heavily on loans or credit cards.
Furthermore, saving is important because young adults often face significant financial responsibilities as they become older. For instance, they may need money to purchase a home, start a business, continue their education or support their families. In addition, learning to manage money at a young age can encourage responsible financial behaviour in later life.
However, it is also important for young people to enjoy their present lives rather than saving money for the future. Excssuve saving may prevent them from spending money on education, hobbies, travel or meaningful experiences.
In conclusion, I strongly agree that everyone, including young people, should save money for the future. Although it is reasonable to spemd some money on present needs and experiences, developing a regular saving habit can provide financial security and make it easier to achieve important long-term goals.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the task, presenting a clear overall position that leans toward agreeing with the statement while acknowledging alternative viewpoints. In the introduction, you state that you strongly agree and provide reasons why saving is important, while also touching upon the idea that young people should spend money on travel or completing dreams. The body paragraphs successfully develop relevant ideas, such as financial stability during emergencies and preparing for future responsibilities like purchasing a home. However, some ideas remain slightly under-developed, particularly the counter-argument regarding spending on present experiences, which is introduced briefly in the introduction and a short paragraph but lacks deeper extension or specific examples. To reach a higher level, every main idea and counter-argument needs to be fully explored and supported with more elaboration throughout the body of the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear progression of ideas from the introduction through the body paragraphs to the conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct points, such as emergency savings, future responsibilities, and the counter-argument about enjoying the present. Cohesive devices are employed to link ideas together, such as 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', and 'However'. However, cohesion is at times a bit mechanical or formulaic, and referencing is not always completely clear. For instance, the transition into the counter-argument feels slightly abrupt. To improve further, you should integrate cohesive devices more naturally and ensure that the relationship between opposing ideas is smoothly connected without relying heavily on standard transitional phrases.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, demonstrating an acceptable range of words and phrases that allow you to communicate your ideas effectively. You make commendable attempts to use less common items and academic phrasing, such as 'financial stability', 'financial cushion', and 'responsible financial behaviour'. Nevertheless, there are some noticeable lexical errors and issues with word formation and spelling, such as writing 'save money' instead of 'saving money' in the introduction, 'much more better' which mixes comparative forms, 'Excssuve saving' containing a spelling mistake, and 'spemd' in the conclusion. These errors do not impede communication, but they highlight inaccuracies in word choice and form. To achieve a higher band, you need to expand your control of less common vocabulary and eliminate spelling and word-form errors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. You successfully utilise complex sentences involving subordinate clauses, such as 'Although it is reasonable to spend some money on present needs and experiences, developing a regular saving habit can provide financial security.' There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, particularly regarding verb forms and prepositions within grammatical patterns, such as saying 'because save money helps' instead of 'because saving money helps', and 'from young age' omitting the necessary article. Fortunately, these errors occur alongside error-free sentences and rarely impede communication. To move higher, you should aim for a wider variety of complex structures with improved control and accuracy over grammatical patterns and articles.
