Student answer (Band 5.5)
In the current era, it is crucial for everyone, even young adults, to save money for their future, whereas other people think that young people should spend some money on their needs and cover their expenses. From my perspective, the young generation should know how to be financially strong and independent.
Firstly, it is true that everyone should know how to save money, especially adults, because they need to fulfill their responsibilities as parents and guardians. However, some elders feel that adulthood is tough, so they want young people to be free from every responsibility and enjoy their childhood. Meanwhile, others have different opinions, such as that they can be distracted from their studies. For instance, when young people have money, they want to hang out with their friends, and their education will be neglected, which will affect their future.
Conversely, in the present day, some people think that everyone should save money, especially young adults. Young people should know how to tackle difficult financial situations. In this era where everything is faster and more competitive, they need to be prepared before the time comes in their life. Another significant factor is that saving money can help them to learn about independence. Being independent is a basic thing in this modern world.
In conclusion, the young generation should be independent and be a part of this modern world without wasting their time on useless activities, rather than just being used to partying and hanging out with their friends and depend on their parents.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by presenting a clear position on whether young people should save money, but some ideas are under-developed or lack full extension. For instance, the introduction outlines your perspective, and the body paragraphs discuss both saving and the counter-argument about enjoying youth and avoiding distractions in studies. However, the reasoning tends to repeat general notions rather than exploring them in depth with concrete examples. To move to a higher band, you need to fully develop your main points with more specific arguments and explanations, avoiding repetitive justifications about independence and partying.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement and logical paragraphing, though the progression of ideas can sometimes feel mechanical due to repetitive transitions. You attempt to link your paragraphs using phrases like "Firstly", "Conversely", and "In conclusion". However, referencing is not always clear, and some cohesive devices are used repetitively or somewhat inaccurately, such as starting the counter-argument paragraph with "Conversely, in the present day, some people think that everyone should save money", which slightly confuses the opposing viewpoint presented earlier. To improve, ensure that logical connectors flow naturally to guide the reader smoothly through a clear progression of arguments.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting some less common phrases such as "tackle difficult financial situations" and "financially strong and independent". However, there are noticeable limitations and occasional inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as "depend on their parents" at the end of the essay where the grammatical form does not tie smoothly into the sentence structure, or using "elders" when you mean older people or parents. Spelling and word choice are generally sufficient for your meaning to come across without impeding communication, but to achieve a higher score, you should incorporate a wider variety of precise, sophisticated lexical items and idioms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
Your writing demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, which is typical of this level. You successfully construct complex sentences, such as "In this era where everything is faster and more competitive, they need to be prepared before the time comes in their life." There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, such as missing articles, preposition issues, and awkward phrasing like "depend on their parents" instead of a parallel infinitive form, but these errors rarely impede communication and do not obscure your overall meaning. To reach a higher level, you should aim to produce a greater frequency of error-free complex sentences and exercise tighter control over punctuation and prepositional patterns.
