Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some people think that it is important for everyone, including young people, to save money for their future. I completely agree with this statement because of some reasons.
Firstly, saving money has many benefits for security. For example, saving has provided a lot of safety. People have got more confidence when they have saved money. In my country, many young people have saved money from their pocket money and part-time jobs and they have got positive results. When they have faced an emergency like illness or job loss, their savings have helped them. They have not taken loans from others and they have lived a stress-free life. So, saving has helped people a lot to become independent.
Secondly, saving money for the future has also played an important role for big goals. Young people and families have got many benefits from it. For example, it has created many opportunities. Many students have worked hard and they have saved money for their university fees. They have also saved for buying a house or starting a business. It has also improved the economy. Many countries have developed because people have saved money in banks and banks have invested that money. Therefore, this habit has brought many positive changes for the whole country.
However, some people disagree and say that it has some negative effects. They think that young people have not enjoyed their present life because they have saved too much. But I think this negative effect is very small and it can be controlled easily if young people have made a proper balance between saving and spending.
In conclusion, although saving has some minor disadvantages, I strongly agree that saving money for the future has more positive effects. So, everyone including young people should save money.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response successfully addresses all parts of the task by presenting a clear position on whether everyone, including young people, should save money for the future. The ideas presented are relevant to the prompt, discussing financial security, emergency preparedness, and long-term goals such as buying a house or funding education. However, some parts of the response are more fully developed than others. While the points regarding emergencies and big goals are reasonably supported, certain arguments tend to generalise without sufficient depth, preventing the piece from reaching a higher band. The overall stance is maintained consistently throughout the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion, satisfying the core requirements of this level while showing glimpses of better extension.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear logical progression of ideas from one paragraph to the next. The writer uses standard cohesive devices such as "Firstly," "Secondly," and "However" to signal the structure of the argument, though referencing and linking can occasionally feel slightly mechanical. Paragraphing is used appropriately, with each main idea grouped into its own distinct section. The introduction and conclusion frame the response adequately. To achieve a higher level of cohesion, the writer could employ a wider variety of transitional phrases and ensure that referencing pronouns connect ideas more fluidly without relying heavily on repetitive sentence openings.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as "emergency," "independent," and "investment." However, there is a noticeable presence of basic or repetitive phrasing, such as "saving money" and "positive effects" appearing frequently. While word choice and spelling generally do not impede communication, inaccuracies in collocation and word form prevent the response from achieving a higher mark. For instance, phrases like "enjoyed their present life" could be expressed with greater precision. The vocabulary is minimally sufficient to convey the intended meaning, but lacks the flexibility and stylistic awareness required for advanced bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The writing demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing structures like subordinate clauses introduced by "because" and "although." There are some errors in grammar and tense selection, such as the frequent overuse of the present perfect tense ("have saved," "have helped") where simple past or present simple would be more natural. Punctuation is generally controlled, and while errors do occur, they rarely impede communication. To reach a higher standard, the writer needs to incorporate a wider variety of error-free complex structures and refine their control over verb tense consistency across different paragraphs.
