Student answer (Band 4.5)
In my opinion, money is important for everyone however they may old or young, male or female, it has it's own importance on it's own way. The people who don't save their money when they are young and spending it continuously will might be feel guilty in the future. Because, if he or she needs money in the future after find out that he has not enough money to support his family in the future. They might ashamed themselves. Because that's the time where they can give their hard earn money to their family who needs it so much at that time. So, he should think about in the past that whenever he getting old he needs money in the future for his health and other circumstances that,s why he should has saved his money rather he feel bad in the future. Let me give an example on that topic, for example there is a men who saved his hard earn money for the future in his past. He may needs this money in the past too due to some other rasons like expenses of his daily life routine just like living expenses, health expenses, and goods expenses for kitchen. But, by reduce the limits of expenses he can saved his monkey from over expenses, after saving this money he can use it in the future for hisself and his family. It will give benefit to him in the future. In other case, the men who couldn't save his money in the young age, if he can not manage his money, and expend it in a every little and useless needs. He can never be a successful person in the future.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by expressing an opinion that saving money is important for individuals of all ages, aligning with a partial engagement in the task. However, the position is not always clearly sustained, and the ideas presented are somewhat limited and under-developed. For instance, the writer attempts to explain the consequences of failing to save through a personal narrative style, but the reasoning remains repetitive and lacks deep exploration. Some ideas are introduced without sufficient expansion, such as the mention of various daily expenses, which reflects a tendency to touch upon relevant concepts without developing them thoroughly. To move higher, the writer needs to present a fully developed position with well-supported ideas and clear extensions of arguments regarding why saving for the future is universally important.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The response demonstrates some overall organisation, but it lacks a clear overall progression throughout the text. The entire essay is written as a single dense block of text without proper paragraphing, which significantly hinders the logical flow and visual structure of the response. Furthermore, cohesive devices are used inadequately or repetitively, with excessive reliance on transitional phrases like 'Because' and 'for example' to string clauses together rather than building sophisticated links between ideas. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, such as the ambiguous switching of pronouns between singular and plural forms when referring to individuals. To improve, the writer must divide the essay into distinct, logically structured paragraphs and employ a wider, more accurate range of cohesive devices to guide the reader smoothly through the argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task, featuring noticeable errors in word choice, word form, and spelling that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. Examples of lexical inaccuracies include 'hard earn money' instead of 'hard-earned money', 'rasons' for 'reasons', 'saved his monkey' instead of 'saved his money', and 'hisself' instead of 'himself'. The writer attempts to use less common vocabulary, but these attempts are frequently marred by inappropriate word forms or misspellings. To reach a higher band, the writer must expand their lexical repertoire, ensure correct word formation and spelling, and use vocabulary with greater precision and awareness of collocation to communicate ideas more fluently.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on basic sentence forms alongside faulty attempts at complex sentences. There are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that can cause difficulty for the reader, including persistent issues with verb tenses, subject-verb agreement, and articles. Examples include 'however they may old or young', 'spending it continuously will might be feel guilty', 'he has not enough money', and 'he should has saved his money'. These frequent errors disrupt the flow of reading and demonstrate weak control over basic and complex grammatical patterns alike. To progress, the writer needs to focus on mastering basic sentence structures, ensuring correct auxiliary verb usage, and reducing the frequency of grammatical slips across all sentences.
