Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses the task only partially. While the writer takes a clear position by stating 'I strongly agree with this statement,' the ideas remain limited and under-developed throughout the essay. For instance, the discussion on how people progress in their careers and handle expenses lacks specific elaboration, and the second body paragraph touches vaguely on young people learning market skills and family expectations without fully expanding on the implications for saving money. Although the prompt is generally acknowledged, the supporting points often wander into related concepts without deepening the core argument about saving for the future.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some basic organization with discernible paragraph breaks, but the response lacks a clear overall progression. The movement between ideas feels abrupt and mechanical. For example, transitions like 'To begin with,' 'On the other hand,' and 'In conclusion' are present, but the internal links between sentences are frequently inadequate or confusing, such as the shift from career progression to buying a house and then suddenly pivoting to family conflicts in the third paragraph. Additionally, referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the logical development of the argument from one sentence to the next.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited and barely adequate for the task. The writer attempts some less common phrases, such as 'forthcoming years' and 'financial progression,' but these are often undermined by noticeable word choice, collocation, and word form errors that cause difficulty for the reader. Examples of these inaccuracies include 'preserve money' instead of 'save money', 'less packages' instead of 'lower salaries', and 'enarn more money' rather than 'earn more money'. Spelling and morphological slips, such as 'expance' and 'conflit', further restrict the precision and fluency of the writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response exhibits a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple or awkwardly constructed sentences. Attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty, leading to frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that can cause difficulty for the reader. There are persistent issues with verb forms, subject-verb agreement, and basic sentence architecture, such as 'It is often believe that preserve money is quit beneficial' and 'young people are also want to learn'. Punctuation is basic, and missing or misplaced articles frequently disrupt the flow and grammatical accuracy of the text.
