Student answer (Band 6.0)
I completely agree with this statement. Money is an important resource which is not only needed for daily life usage but also for important milestones of life including education and marriage. Although portion of saving amount and how to save money can vary depending upon income and age of the person. For example, if a young boy is earning bearly for his needs he might not be able to save too much money every month and he will also not be able to bear the risk of storing money in stock market as he might need it any time as an emergency fund. But a person who has well established source of income well beyond his needs, he can save a chunk of money and divide this into several part to store it as cash, bonds and stocks. But despit all saving methods it is necessary to save money anyway because the expense of marriage and child education is lump sump expense and most of people cannot afford it just from salary because daily life expenses eat a big portion of salary. Although it is also important to keep in mind that just saving money in the form of cash will lose its value and might not be enough when you need it. So to keep money not only in its original value but growing, it is necessary to evaluate saving methods depending upon risk bearing risk. To elaborate more on need of saving, I would like to give example of my father income. He earns around 200$ per month and in Pakistan it is fairly average income. When I got admitted to engineering university for my bachelor's degree my first semester fee was around 400$ which is double than my father's income. But it is not as simple as it looks. I cannot just pay my fee by saving my father's income for two months because our family had other household expenses at that time. So practically max saving potential was around 20-30% of salary. So if my father had not been saving this amount, I would not be able to attend university at that time. Other than education expenses, there are other important milestone expenses that everyone has to bear at least once in lifetime like buying as house or buying a car which is impossible for most of people to do with there regular income. Only saving is a way to buy own house and afford a car.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by taking a clear and consistent position in complete agreement with the prompt. Main ideas are extended and supported, such as when discussing how financial capabilities differ across age groups and income levels. For example, the student explains how a young person earning barely enough for basic needs cannot easily take investment risks, whereas an established earner can diversify their funds. However, there is a distinct tendency to over-generalise in parts, such as the claim that most people cannot afford major milestones from salary alone. The arguments are generally well-developed with relevant examples, including the personal illustration of the author's father and university fees, which firmly anchors the discussion in real-world experience and satisfies the criteria for this band level.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response demonstrates some organisation and an overall logical intent, but it suffers from a lack of clear progression due to the complete absence of paragraph breaks. The entire essay is written as a single, massive block of text, which makes the structure feel mechanical and difficult to follow. While cohesive devices are attempted—such as 'Although', 'For example', and 'To elaborate more'—referencing is occasionally unclear, and transitions between distinct points lack smooth mechanical management. The lack of standard paragraphing prevents the response from achieving a higher level of logical organisation, as grouping ideas into distinct paragraphs dedicated to specific sub-themes is missing. Cohesion is therefore somewhat faulty and repetitive in its structural flow.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common and topic-specific items such as 'milestones', 'emergency fund', 'diversify', and 'lump sump expense' (intended as lump sum). However, there are noticeable inaccuracies in word choice, collocation, and word form throughout the text. Examples include 'daily life usage' instead of daily use, 'bearly' instead of barely, 'despit' instead of despite, 'there regular income' instead of their regular income, and 'bearing risk' instead of bearing capacity. While these vocabulary and spelling errors occur regularly, they do not severely impede communication, as the overall meaning remains clear to the reader, placing the lexical performance solidly at this level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The writing displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting sophisticated structures such as conditional and concessive clauses (e.g., 'if a young boy is earning barely for his needs he might not be able to save...'). However, attempts at complex sentences are frequently marred by structural flaws, missing articles, and preposition errors, such as 'depending upon risk bearing risk' and 'Only saving is a way'. There are frequent errors in grammar, articles, and pluralisation that cause some difficulty for the reader, though communication is rarely completely blocked. Punctuation is also somewhat weak, often relying on run-on sentences rather than clear clause separation, reflecting the characteristics of this grammatical band level.
