Student answer (Band 6.5)

Financial management is one of the lessons that is never taught in elementary education. It is contested that it is beneficial to everyone in society including teenagers to invest money for their future. While spending money is regular in our daily endevours, I completely agree that young individuals is better to keep a portion of their earnings for their future prospects.

One of the primary reason as to why youths should massively invest for their future, is to be sole managers of their lives. A considerable number of adolescents live a miserable life when they grow up because they never saved for their future. Educating young generation on a financial management, equips them with sufficient financial skills, this enhances them to make rightful decisions on spending, thus saving a little capital to sustain them at old age. Therefore, teaching teenegers financial literacy will ameliorate their self-independece to make wise decision .

Another reason in support of an early investment by teenagers,is that the prepare them to effectively take up crucial roles in future. When parents grow old, and they are incompetent to participate in business management, their children become successors. Children who are exposed to early savings would be to take care of inheritance given by their parents. By contrast ,youths who never learned about saving in early years would be an extravagant, leading to poor managerial skills in controlling family estates.

In conclusion, financial management is quite crucial skill that everyone should learn, young people are able to be self-independent and compentent managers of their lives. I completly agree that financial literacy to be introduced in early stage of teenagers to prepare them to be responsible members of society in future

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

The response addresses all parts of the task and presents a clear position throughout, earning a solid rating in this criterion. The writer directly tackles whether young people should save money, agreeing strongly with the statement. Ideas are extended and supported, such as discussing how saving prevents future struggles and prepares individuals for managing family estates later in life. However, there is a tendency to over-generalise in places, and some arguments lean on repetition rather than deeper exploration, which prevents it from reaching a higher band. For instance, the discussion on self-independence is repeated across paragraphs without introducing distinct supporting pillars. The response meets the task requirements well by sustaining its stance from the introductory paragraph through to the conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear logical progression throughout, reflecting the characteristics of a response positioned between bands. Information and ideas are generally well managed, with each body paragraph focusing on a distinct reason to support the thesis, such as financial autonomy and managerial preparation. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the introduction, body sections, and conclusion. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or slightly faulty, touching upon features of the lower descriptor. For example, transitional devices like 'Another reason in support of an early investment by teenagers,is that the prepare them...' feel a bit rigid. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as pronoun confusion where 'the prepare them' contains a typo and ambiguous linkage, preventing a higher score in this area.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

The writer demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common lexical items with varying degrees of success. Words and phrases such as 'financial management', 'financial literacy', and 'self-independence' show an effort to engage with the topic using appropriate terminology. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors that reflect the characteristics of this band, such as 'endevours' instead of 'endeavours', 'teenegers', 'compentent', and awkward collocations like 'massive invest'. Despite these inaccuracies, communication is not impeded, and the vocabulary remains minimally adequate to convey the intended meaning. To achieve a higher band, the writer would need to demonstrate greater precision in word choice and consistent control over less common vocabulary and spelling.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating structures such as conditional and relative clauses. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, but they rarely impede communication. Examples of grammatical lapses include subject-verb agreement issues like 'young individuals is better to keep', article misuse such as 'One of the primary reason', and structural slips like 'educating young generation on a financial management'. Furthermore, preposition usage and word forms within grammatical patterns occasionally falter, as seen in 'at old age' instead of 'in old age' and 'is that the prepare them'. Because errors are present across various sentence types and occur with some regularity, the grammar control sits firmly in the middle band, reflecting a blend of accurate complex attempts and persistent basic slips.
