While, saving money undoubtedly offers financial security for crisis situation and other important upcoming events, spending a fraction of money for the improvement of the present life serves as the primary catalyst for short-term enjoyment and reduction of boredom.
Financial savings allow individuals to plan future seamlessly, thereby, mitigating crisis situations with savings. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the importance of saving money and the arguments for spending in the present. A clear position is maintained throughout the essay and reiterated in the conclusion. However, some ideas are under-developed rather than fully extended. For instance, the point about investments turning savings into an active income source is introduced briefly without sufficient supporting detail or explanation. Similarly, the discussion surrounding young people prioritizing immediate comfort could be enhanced with more specific examples. Despite these gaps in full development, the main arguments are relevant to the prompt, placing this performance firmly at the targeted level where the task is adequately addressed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear central topic for each paragraph. Paragraphing is used logically to separate introduction, body arguments regarding saving, arguments regarding spending, and the conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'While', 'Additionally', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion' are employed to guide the reader through the text. However, referencing and cohesion are occasionally mechanical or slightly faulty, such as the abrupt transition in the final sentence and minor issues with pronoun or transitional flow. Progression is generally evident, but the cohesive links could be managed more flexibly and smoothly to achieve a higher standard of logical flow.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
An adequate range of vocabulary is deployed for the task, successfully conveying the writer's arguments about finance and lifestyle. There are attempts to use less common items and academic phrasing, such as 'financial security', 'mitigating crisis situations', and 'compounded money'. However, the vocabulary is marred by occasional word choice, word form, and spelling inaccuracies that do not impede communication. Examples include spelling slips like 'reamin' and 'propnents', and awkward collocations such as 'spending a fraction of money in present scenario' instead of 'spending a portion of money on the present'. These minor flaws reflect a sufficient resource with occasional errors typical of this level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an attempt to vary grammatical structures. Complex clauses are used, such as concessive clauses starting with 'While'. However, there are some noticeable errors in grammar and punctuation throughout the text. These include subject-verb agreement issues like 'This basic needs should definitely be satisfied' instead of 'These basic needs', as well as prepositional and article inconsistencies such as 'thinking of the finacial stocks are secured' and 'for crisis situation'. While these errors persist, they rarely impede communication, allowing the reader to follow the train of thought easily despite the flawed execution of more complex syntactic structures.
