Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the task only partially and the length requirement of a minimum of 250 words is not met, as the essay contains 243 words. The writer attempts to discuss whether everyone, including young people, should save money, but the position is not always clearly sustained throughout the text. Ideas are limited and under-developed, relying on repetitive points rather than fully exploring the nuances of the prompt. For instance, the discussion of the disadvantages of saving and the notion of utilizing savings in the present lack clear elaboration and relevant examples. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to ensure the word count requirement is met and develop all main ideas with more depth and clearer supporting arguments.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some organisation in the essay, with paragraph breaks used to separate different points, but there is no clear overall progression throughout the text. Cohesive devices are sometimes inadequate, inaccurate, or repetitive, such as the frequent use of transition words like 'Initially', 'Moreover', and 'Furthermore' in a mechanical way. Referencing is also not always clear, making it occasionally difficult to follow how ideas link together from one sentence to the next. To improve, the writer should work on creating a smoother logical flow between paragraphs and using a wider, more accurate variety of cohesive ties to connect ideas naturally.
