Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is important for all people, including young people, to save sufficient amonut of money for their future. I largely agree with this statement because it ensures your financial security , allow you to fullfil the basic requirements in difficult time and make unexpected purchase.

On the one hand, the major reason to support this statement is that it allows people to fullfil the basic requirements in difiicult time. Sometimes people face difficulties to purchase necessary houseold, at that time saved money help you to buy necessary products. For example, if a person fired from his job, then it is challenging for him to provide good food and other necessary things to their family before finding a suitable job. Financial security allow him to purchase food and other products for their family.

On the other hand, the another reason is that saved money help in making unexpected purchase. Saved mone help you to buy an unexpected product or thing. For instance, buying a brand new laptop or computer for your children. If a person with lower income want to purchase new laptop, then it is difficult for him, but saved significant amount of money allow him to buy laptop.

In conclusion, although saving money for future is very difficult task for middle class people with low income, it offers several benefits such as provides financial security, fullfil the basic requirements like healthcare expense, children's education expense and allow you to made unexpected purchase. I believe that saving money for future is very helpful and benificail for all people including young people.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by expressing a clear position on saving money for the future, especially regarding young people. The main ideas are relevant, presenting arguments about financial security, managing difficult times, and making unexpected purchases. However, some ideas are under-developed or lack extension. For instance, the example of a person losing their job is introduced but not fully explored in terms of long-term financial planning. Similarly, the point about buying a laptop for children is somewhat narrow and repetitive in its explanation. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to extend the supporting arguments with deeper explanations or more varied, well-fleshed-out examples rather than repeating similar points about basic requirements and unexpected purchases.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The text demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear stance established in the introduction and reinforced in the conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different arguments, with distinct sections for the two main body paragraphs and a final summary. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion' are employed to structure the response, though referencing is occasionally mechanical or repetitive. For example, the phrase 'saved money help' appears multiple times, creating a slightly formulaic progression. To move further up the scale, the writer could use a wider and more flexible range of cohesive devices and ensure smoother transitions between sentences to create a more fluid progression of ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, successfully conveying the writer's basic message, though the range is limited. The response includes attempts at less common vocabulary such as 'financial security' and 'unexpected purchase', but these are accompanied by noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word form. Examples include 'amonut', 'fullfil', 'difiicult', 'houseold', 'benificail', and 'made' instead of 'make'. While these slips do not severely impede communication, they reflect a restricted lexical control. To achieve a higher standard, the writer should expand their vocabulary range, pay closer attention to standard spelling conventions, and ensure greater precision in word forms and collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writing displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an attempt to use varied structures. However, there are some noticeable errors in grammar and punctuation throughout the text. These include subject-verb agreement issues, such as 'saved money help' and 'Financial security allow', as well as missing articles and preposition errors, like 'in difiicult time' instead of 'in difficult times'. Punctuation is also flawed in places, such as the unnecessary space before the comma in 'security , allow'. Although these errors rarely impede communication, they persist across the text. To improve, the writer should focus on strengthening basic grammatical accuracy, particularly subject-verb agreement and article usage, while increasing the proportion of error-free complex sentences.
