Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is necesaary for every person, whether they are young or old, to save money for their future. I agree with this statement because it gives people the independence they need and teach them the responsibility.
Saving money for the future is a much needed habit for everyone. A spendthrift person might spend mkney on something that is a luxury for them for a short-timed pleasure, but in the long run, they might get affected because of their extravagant nature, when they will need money to get their necessities, but might not have enough by that time.
Saving money can make people independent. If someone saves money for their future, they might not need to depend on others for getting their necessities even if they don’t have any active income at that time. For instance, saving pocket money, peoplee with a 50k salary, should not spend each and every penny of their income to buy a phone that is out of their budget, like an iphone. If they do that, they might need to pay for the loan for the next few months or year. But if they only buy a phone that fulfills their necessities, they can have the extra money saved into a savings acount, which they can use when they need it.
Saving money can also teach people to be responsible. As people who save their money, don’t spend much on extravagant items, they only spend on necessities. This teaches them how to be responsible for every penny they spend. Moreover, learning this from a young age, by saving pocket money, kids can be responsible for spending their money when they start earning.
Saving money can be a great virtue to learn for both young and old as it makes them independent and responsible.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your response addresses all parts of the task, presenting a clear position from the beginning to the end that you agree with the statement. You successfully introduce two main supporting ideas: independence and responsibility. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others, which is characteristic of this level. For instance, while your second body paragraph effectively expands on financial independence and gives a relevant example about buying a phone like an iPhone, your first body paragraph remains somewhat brief and general, offering less detailed support. To move higher, ensure that every main idea receives equal weight and extension, exploring the real-world implications of your arguments in greater depth.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
Your essay has a coherent overall arrangement and a logical progression through clear paragraphing. You use basic cohesive devices adequately to guide the reader, such as 'Moreover', 'For instance', and 'But if'. However, referencing and cohesion are sometimes a bit mechanical or repetitive, as seen with the frequent recycling of phrase structures like 'Saving money can...'. Additionally, pronoun referencing occasionally lacks absolute clarity, such as when referring back to abstract groups. To reach a higher standard, you should integrate a more varied and flexible range of cohesive devices and ensure smoother transitions between sentences and paragraphs without relying on formulaic sentence openings.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'spendthrift', 'extravagant nature', and 'virtue'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors that prevent a higher score, including typos like 'necesaary', 'mkney', 'short-timed', and 'acount'. Furthermore, some collocations and word forms are imprecise, such as writing 'teach them the responsibility' instead of 'teach them responsibility'. To improve your lexical score, you must eliminate basic spelling mistakes and use less common vocabulary with greater precision and stylistic awareness.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You make use of a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating control over clauses in sentences such as 'If someone saves money for their future, they might not need to depend on others...' There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, but they rarely impede communication. Examples include minor agreement and article slips like 'peoplee with a 50k salary, should not spend...' with unnecessary comma separation, and awkward phrasing such as 'as people who save their money, don't spend much'. To achieve a higher band, you need to produce a higher proportion of error-free sentences while maintaining a wider variety of complex structures with accurate punctuation.
