Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is widely belived that it is important for everyone,in addition youngstars, to save money for their future.
I hold the view that that it is important for everyone including youngstars to save their money, Firstly, Saving your money as an individual helps you set your priorities right, i;e it helps you avoid spending unncessarily, wasting resources.
Saving your money helps you plan well, i.e knowing what you are going to be using your money for.
it helps you avoid waste as an individual, having a scale of preference in your mind helps you put the important needs first to avoid spending anyhow. It is actually a wise financial decision to know how to save. It curtails reckless spending which might lead to being broke at the end
Secondly, Saving your money for future use, helps you at the long run.
it helps you to be economically conscious, by saving your money, you can still refer back to it, incase of any problems one might encounter in future. For example, we all know how the health care system in Nigeria is flawed, practicing good saving can save you from any health problems that can't be solved in Nigeria.
There was a time one of my friend was really sick in General Hospital, Niger State. She didnt have access to good healthcare system, eventually she was able to travel out of the country to get a better treatment and she was able to afford it through her savings. The question is, what if she didn't save.
Thirdly, it teaches you discipline financially, it makes you accountable to your ownself.
When discipline is built financially, it keeps ypur appetite to spending unnecessarily in check, saving as an individual just helps you curtail unnecessary spendings.
Overall, saving as an individual for future is very important because it helps us at the long-run.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response successfully addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing whether everyone, including young people, should save money for the future, presenting a clear position throughout. Relevant ideas are introduced, such as avoiding unnecessary spending, financial discipline, and preparing for unforeseen circumstances like healthcare emergencies, demonstrated through a personal example about a friend in Niger State. However, some ideas remain under-developed or repetitive, particularly the points regarding avoiding waste and setting a scale of preference, which circle around the same core concept without significant extension. This balances the characteristics of fully addressing the task while showing some limitations in idea development, reflecting a solid performance that covers the prompt effectively but lacks the deeper elaboration found at higher levels.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to structure the response using sequencing markers such as Firstly, Secondly, and Thirdly. Paragraphing is utilised to separate main ideas, and there is a discernible progression in the argument from setting priorities to handling emergencies and building discipline. Nevertheless, cohesion is sometimes mechanical and repetitive, relying heavily on basic transitional words rather than a smoother flow of ideas. Referencing and linking between sentences occasionally lack precision, such as abrupt shifts in the first body paragraph and repetitive phrasing like saving your money. These features point towards a structured yet mechanical approach to organizing text, where cohesive devices are somewhat over-used or simplistic.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, providing enough range to communicate the main arguments about financial planning and discipline. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary and appropriate subject-specific terms such as economically conscious, financial decision, and healthcare system. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors that occur throughout the text, including belived, youngstars, unncessarily, at the long run, ypur, and spendings. While these inaccuracies do not seriously impede communication, as the reader can still readily follow the argument, they prevent the lexical range from achieving greater precision and flexibility, thus sitting comfortably at an adequate level of control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer demonstrates a mix of simple and some complex sentence forms, attempting structures like conditional and relative clauses. However, the range of grammatical structures remains limited, and attempts at complex sentences are frequently accompanied by punctuation and structural errors, such as comma splices (e.g., Everyone,in addition youngstars; save your money as an individual helps; it helps you avoid waste as an individual, having a scale of preference). There are also minor prepositional and agreement issues, such as at the long run instead of in the long run. While these errors occur with some frequency, they rarely impede overall communication, allowing the reader to grasp the core meaning despite the structural and punctuation inaccuracies.
