Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the task, presenting a clear position right from the introduction where you state, 'I completely and strongly agree with this stance that people should save money for themself.' The main ideas are relevant and generally easy to follow, as seen when you discuss the practical benefits of savings during unexpected situations like the pandemic. However, some ideas remain under-developed or touch upon points superficially without sufficient extension. For instance, mentioning 'Educational prespective' and 'family planning' is a good start, but these points lack specific elaboration or supporting examples. To move towards a higher band, you need to fully develop all your supporting arguments with more detailed explanations and richer contextual examples rather than simply listing potential crisis scenarios.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a concluding statement. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas, such as the general need for savings in the second paragraph and the specific example of COVID-19 in the third. Nevertheless, cohesion at times feels a bit mechanical or repetitive, particularly in how sentences are linked together using basic connectors like 'In todays rapidly evolving world' and 'In conclusion'. Referencing is occasionally slightly unclear, such as the pronoun use in 'so they spend a healthy life' where the antecedent is slightly blurred. To achieve a higher band, you should work on making the logical progression between sentences smoother and employ a more varied and natural range of cohesive devices without over-relying on formulaic transitional phrases.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your main arguments clearly. You make successful attempts at using less common vocabulary items, such as 'contemporary era', 'independent', and 'unexpected situation'. However, there are noticeable lexical errors throughout the text, including word choice and spelling mistakes such as 'imoortant', 'todays', 'thier', 'Unempolybility', and 'led' instead of 'lead'. Some collocations are also a bit unnatural, such as 'do savings' instead of 'make savings' or 'save money'. These errors indicate an adequate range for this level, but to reach a higher band, you need to improve accuracy in spelling and word choice, and demonstrate a more precise control of less common lexical items and collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating your ability to construct compound and complex ideas, such as conditional clauses in 'If you are young or not its imoortant for you...'. There are, however, a number of errors in grammar and punctuation, including missing apostrophes ('todays'), faulty punctuation around clauses ('In this contemporary era, It has become...'), and slight issues with prepositions and articles. These errors occur regularly but rarely impede overall communication, placing your control comfortably at this level. To step up to a higher band, you need to produce a higher proportion of error-free sentences when attempting complex grammatical structures, and pay closer attention to punctuation rules, article usage, and subject-verb agreement.
