Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear position that saving and investing money for the future is important. However, the ideas remain limited and under-developed throughout the essay. For example, while the writer mentions investing in stores, houses, watches, and gold, these points are listed rather than extended with detailed explanations or strong supporting examples. The reasoning regarding why young people need savings touches on family and education, but these thoughts are presented briefly and lack depth. Furthermore, some parts of the discussion wander into vague generalisations about aging, such as referring to 'the age of our father', which means the main task is only partially addressed in terms of thoroughness and full task completion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some basic organisation present, with the text broken into paragraphs and basic transition words like 'Firstly' and 'Secondly' employed to signal structure. However, there is no clear overall progression of ideas. The logical flow is frequently disrupted by abrupt shifts in topic and repetitive phrasing. For instance, the transition between discussing investment types and discussing young people saving for children in the first body paragraph feels disjointed. Additionally, cohesive devices are often inadequate or repetitive, with words like 'feature' (used for future) and 'invest' appearing frequently without smooth referencing, making the progression feel mechanical rather than naturally connected throughout the essay.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary range is limited and minimally adequate for addressing the topic. The student attempts less common vocabulary related to finance and investments, such as 'misusage', 'profitable', and 'investment', but these attempts are accompanied by noticeable errors in word choice, word form, and spelling. For instance, the future time noun is consistently misspelled as 'feature' ('in feature', 'upcoming life'), and phrases like 'do not have enough wealth' or 'savings will be finish' display awkward collocation and grammatical forms. These lexical inaccuracies and persistent spelling errors cause noticeable difficulty for the reader and restrict the range of vocabulary to a basic level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The grammatical range is quite limited, relying heavily on simple structures alongside frequent attempts at complex sentences that are often faulty. There are frequent errors in verb forms, tenses, subject-verb agreement, and articles throughout the response. Examples include 'In different scenario's' (incorrect punctuation and pluralisation), 'help us to give profit' (awkward prepositional and verb patterns), 'Young peoples have saving' (unnecessary pluralisation and missing articles), and 'if we save the money and do not invest them' (pronoun agreement error). Punctuation and sentence boundaries are also weak, with run-on ideas and sentence fragments appearing regularly. These frequent errors cause significant difficulty and strain for the reader.
