Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is an undeniable fact that saving some penny for future plays a paramount role for young ones today in this modern technological world, while some people may argue that putting responsibilties on such early age for saving and investing money might sacrifice their early twenties and independence. Nevertheless; I firmly believe that saving even a penny today will eventually benfit us in future. This essay will discuss the topic in deep and present my opinion on it.

To begin with, the primary reason why i agree with this view is that health related emergencies that could occur in future. This is because the necessary and basic medicines today costs us a whole lot of money and if any case of emergency occurs in such a way that a very large amount is needed then we have to be dependent on others for it. Consequently, depending on others does not gaurantee the money, instead the situation becomes more worse. As a result saving some penny and sacrificing few things today such as few drinks and clubbing on weekends with friends, will be more advantageous than this.

Another compelling reason for supporting this view is that to pursue higher education abroad. The main explanation for this is that ,the ones who wanted to pursue higher qualification but could not do it as their background says they are financially worse to even match the criteria for higher studies. As a result, such young children oftenly seen working as a minimum wager as they could not afford the fees. Hence, it is evident that this financial independence further strenthens the arguement that saving money today is important for future.

In conclusio, although the fact that saving money today needs some sacrifice but is more benificial in long term that in short term.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the task and presents a clear position throughout, suggesting that saving money is beneficial despite the minor sacrifices involved. The main ideas are relevant, such as preparing for health emergencies and funding higher education abroad, which successfully meets the criteria for addressing the prompt. However, some ideas show a tendency to be slightly under-developed or supported with generalisations rather than deep elaboration, particularly in the second body paragraph regarding educational barriers. While the student's stance is maintained from the introduction to the conclusion, extending the explanations of how saving specifically prevents these future hurdles would elevate the response further, showing a fully developed progression of ideas across all main points.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear structural framework, including an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is utilised adequately to separate distinct points. Cohesive devices are employed to link ideas, such as "To begin with," "Another compelling reason," and "Consequently," showing an attempt to guide the reader through the argument. Nevertheless, cohesion is occasionally mechanical or faulty, as seen in the slightly disjointed transition into the second body paragraph and minor referencing lapses. To reach the next level, the writer needs to ensure that cohesive devices are used more flexibly and fluidly, avoiding repetitive transitional patterns and tightening the logical bridges between sentences so that the progression of thought feels entirely natural and unobtrusive throughout.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The writer demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common items such as "paramount role," "financial independence," and "advantageous." However, there are noticeable lexical shortcomings, including word choice and collocation errors such as "saving some penny" instead of "saving a penny" or "saving pennies," and spelling errors like "benfit," "gaurantee," "more worse," "strenthens," "arguement," "conclusio," and "benificial." Furthermore, awkward phrases like "putting responsibilties on such early age" restrict precision. These inaccuracies occasionally cause minor strain for the reader. To achieve a higher band, the student must expand their control of less common lexical items, ensure greater precision in word choices and collocations, and eliminate basic spelling mistakes through careful proofreading.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The response exhibits a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures such as conditional and relative clauses. There are several grammatical errors in punctuation and agreement, including a misplaced semicolon ("Nevertheless;") and issues with articles, prepositions, and plurals, such as "medicines today costs us" instead of "cost," "at such early age" instead of "at such an early age," and "children oftenly seen" instead of "are often seen." Additionally, sentence boundaries and commas are sometimes mismanaged, as seen in the run-on structure in the final body paragraph. These errors rarely impede overall communication, allowing the reader to grasp the core message. To improve, the writer needs to incorporate a wider variety of error-free complex sentences and exercise closer control over basic subject-verb agreement, punctuation rules, and article usage.
