It is important for everyone, including young people, to save money for their future.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 6.5)
There is currently a contentious argument over whether it is imperative for each individual, including the younger generation, to economize for their future. I totally agree with this opinion because cost of living is rises, maintaining a good standard of living and paying for quality education pose major financial challenges everywhere.
The main reason saving money is crucial is the skyrocketing cost of living and the expense of modern education. Nowadays, school and university fees are very high, and young people need money just to survive and live a comfortable life. If they do not save money now, they will struggle to pay for their future needs. Therefore, saving money is a necessary habit to handle these rising expenses safely.
On the other hand, another reason to save money is to avoid the temptation of modern consumerism. Today, young people are heavily influenced by social media and internet celebrities who promote expensive, unnecessary items. Many youth spend their hard-earned money on branded products just to look cool or trendy in front of others. If they keep wasting their cash on these things, they will face major financial trouble and fail to build a secure future.
In conclusion, I strongly agree that saving money is essential for everyone, especially the younger generation. Because living costs and education expenses are constantly rising, and modern trends tempt people to waste money on unnecessary luxuries, financial planning is the only way to ensure a secure and stable future no

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the opening (“I totally agree”) and is maintained in the conclusion. You give two relevant reasons: rising living and education costs, and pressure to spend on consumer goods promoted online. These address the question, but the support remains fairly general. For example, you say young people may struggle to meet future needs, without illustrating a specific situation or explaining how regular saving helps them manage it. The consumerism point is relevant, though its consequences are asserted rather than developed with an example. The response is also five words below the required minimum. To strengthen the response, add a concrete example and explain each reason more fully, while ensuring the essay meets the stated length.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion that restates your position. The progression from financial pressures to consumerism is easy to follow, and signposts such as “The main reason,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help guide the reader. However, some linking is mechanical, and “On the other hand” suggests a contrast even though the second body paragraph gives another reason supporting the same position. The final sentence also ends abruptly at “no,” which disrupts the conclusion. Use transitions that show addition or a new supporting point, connect claims more explicitly, and ensure the ending is complete.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.5
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “cost of living,” “financial challenges,” “consumerism,” and “financial planning.” Some less common expressions, such as “skyrocketing cost” and “secure and stable future,” show an effort to vary your language. There are also several imprecise or unnatural choices: “economize for their future” is less natural than “save for the future,” while “handle these rising expenses safely” does not express the intended idea clearly. “Hard-earned money” is understandable but somewhat overstated in this context. These choices do not prevent understanding, but more accurate collocations and less repetition of “money” and “future” would make the vocabulary more flexible and precise.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex structures, including conditional sentences such as “If they do not save money now, they will struggle…” and a relative clause in “celebrities who promote…”. Most ideas remain clear, but some grammatical errors are noticeable. In the opening, “cost of living is rises” combines incompatible verb forms; write “the cost of living is rising.” The phrase “school and university fees are very high” is grammatically sound, but the conclusion begins with “Because” as a fragment and then leaves the final sentence incomplete at “no.” Aim to check verb forms and sentence boundaries, and vary your complex structures while keeping them accurate.
