Student answer (Band 6.5)

It is often argued that every individual including youngsters should save money for their future as it is one of the crucial factor. I firmly agree with the view of saving money due to several compelling reasons. This essay will not only elaborate my viewpoint but also provide relevant examples to support it.

To commence with, one of the most significant factor is that budgeting money can help the individuals to avoid unwanted expenses and they can learn to avoid using credit cards. Furthermore, youngsters should also try to do part time jobs and save money from that so that they can support their academics without rely heavily on student loans. Consequently, students learn to control their finances according to the situation.

Moreover, the another crucial point is that individuals can save themselves from the unwanted crisis like unwanted medical crisis, job loss and property repairs can make severe financial distress. Additionally, completely depends on government pensions and schemes is insufficient because these are temporary policies and does not support healthy life style. Thus it is evident that personal savings ensures the dignified and secure retirement for the older people.

In conclusion, some may argue that everyone get the life once and should spend on their needs and enjoy it without being worried about the future but I strongly believe that budgeting money should be the key factor in everyone's life because of the reasons discussed above. Therefore, saving finances should be must for all the people even including young individuals.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

Your position is clear from the introduction—“I firmly agree”—and remains consistent in the conclusion. You address the importance of saving for young people through budgeting, part-time work and avoiding student loans, and for adults through emergencies and retirement. These relevant reasons are supported with examples such as medical costs, job loss and property repairs. This gives the response a clear, developed argument. Some points, however, are asserted rather than fully explained: for instance, the claim that government pensions are temporary policies is broad and would benefit from a specific explanation or example. Develop the consequences of each reason more fully, and make the contrast with enjoying life now more precise, to strengthen the support for your position.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting distinct reasons, and a conclusion that restates your view. The progression from financial habits for young people to protection against later-life difficulties is logical. Linking expressions such as “Furthermore,” “Moreover,” and “Consequently” help signal relationships between ideas. At times, however, these transitions feel formulaic, and some connections within sentences are unclear—for example, the list of crises is followed by “can make severe financial distress” without a clear grammatical link. Use transitions selectively and make the relationship between each example and its main point explicit. This will preserve the clear progression while making cohesion more natural.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “budgeting,” “student loans,” “financial distress,” and “dignified and secure retirement.” These choices communicate the main ideas, and attempts at more formal phrasing are evident. Some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or repetitive, however: “unwanted crisis” is repeated, “support their academics” is imprecise, and “saving finances” is less natural than “saving money.” Phrases such as “healthy life style” also do not express the intended idea clearly. Aim for precise, natural collocations and avoid repeating the same adjective. For example, distinguish unexpected expenses from emergencies, and use vocabulary that directly describes financial security.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You attempt a mix of simple and complex structures, including clauses introduced by “because” and “so that,” and most of the argument remains understandable. Some grammatical errors persist, particularly with agreement, articles and verb forms. For example, “one of the most significant factor” needs a plural noun, while “the another crucial point” has an incorrect article construction. In “without rely heavily on student loans,” the verb form after “without” is incorrect; later, “government pensions … does not support” also has a subject–verb agreement problem. Review these patterns and check each sentence for a clear subject and correctly formed verb. More accurate control of these structures would make your ideas easier to follow.
