Student answer (Band 6.5)

It is essential for every individual, including people in their youth, to save cash for their future. I agree with this view because the future is unknown and one should be prepared for difficult times, such as unemployment and health problems.

The job market is getting worse with the boom in artificial intelligence. Many companies are laying off several employees since the beginning of this year. With such condition of the job market people should be prepared for the uncertainty the future holds. Therefore, it is imperative to save money so that even if a person gets laid off they are able to survive. They can use these savings to pay the flat/house rent, do groceries, pay bills, and support their lifestyle while hunting for another job.

Medical care is very expensive especially in the third world countries hence one should save money incase they or their loved ones get ill. Without money or with a low budget individuals won't be able to afford the treatments. For example, cancer is a life threatening disease. If a person has cancer they will needs tests to be done reguarly which can be costly. Furthermore, there are usually several rounds of chemotherapy and each of these rounds can be very expensive. Cancer treatments may also include surgical procedures during multiple stages of the treatment. These surgies and the overall hospital bills can be upto millions of rupees. Hence, one should save money incase they get caught up in such as situation.

In conclusion, I believe that it is imperative for people, including young people, to save money for their future so that they are prepared for any unpleasant circumstances, such as illness or unemployment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

Your position is clear from the introduction to the conclusion: you agree that everyone, including young people, should save for future difficulties. Both reasons are relevant and supported with examples. The unemployment paragraph explains how savings could cover rent, groceries and bills while someone seeks work; the health paragraph develops the point through cancer treatment costs. This addresses the task and gives the reader a clear rationale. Some claims, however, are broad—for example, that the job market is worsening because of AI—and the discussion focuses mainly on emergencies rather than explaining why saving matters specifically for young people or considering any qualification to your view. More precise support and fuller development of that aspect would strengthen the response.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The response has a clear overall progression: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present separate reasons, and the conclusion restates your position. The examples are placed in the relevant paragraphs, and linking expressions such as “Therefore,” “Furthermore,” and “In conclusion” help signal relationships between ideas. This makes the argument easy to follow. At times, however, the links feel somewhat formulaic, and the health paragraph gives several treatment details in succession without always making the connection to the central point explicit. The transition in “With such condition of the job market” is also awkward, and there is no space after the full stop in “holds.Therefore.” Use more varied, precise transitions and connect each example back to the argument.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “uncertainty,” “laid off,” “life threatening disease,” “chemotherapy,” and “surgical procedures.” These terms help explain the financial risks clearly, and the meaning remains understandable throughout. However, some choices are informal or imprecise for an academic essay, such as “save cash,” “do groceries,” and “flat/house rent.” There are also spelling and word-form errors, including “reguarly,” “surgies,” and “upto,” alongside repeated use of “expensive” and “save money.” Aim for more natural collocations and greater variety—for instance, use “purchase groceries” and “medical expenses”—and proofread spelling and spacing carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including subordinate clauses such as “so that even if a person gets laid off they are able to survive” and the conditional “If a person has cancer…”. Most sentences communicate the intended meaning, and the paragraph structure supports readability. Some grammatical errors remain, however. In “they will needs tests,” the verb form is incorrect; “they will need tests” is required. The phrase “With such condition” needs an article or plural form, and “one should save money in case they…” shifts between singular “one” and plural “they.” There are also punctuation issues, including the missing space after “holds.” Practise maintaining consistent subjects and checking verb forms, articles, and sentence punctuation.
