Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
Your position is clear from the opening—“I strongly agree”—and the response gives relevant reasons: savings can help with emergencies, reduce financial stress, and support future goals. The examples of job loss, medical treatment, and a student saving pocket money make the points more concrete. However, the task is only partially addressed because the ideas are brief and not sufficiently explained; for example, the long-term goals are listed but not developed. The response also does not meet the stated 250-word minimum, which limits the opportunity to support your argument. To strengthen the response, explain how each example demonstrates the value of saving and develop the point about young people in particular.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. The ideas generally follow a sensible order, moving from emergency savings to the habit of saving early and then to long-term goals. Linking expressions such as “for example,” “secondly,” and “in conclusion” help signal these stages. However, progression within the paragraphs is sometimes unclear: the final body paragraph shifts from listing goals to recommending spending on education without explaining how this relates to saving. Some connections are also mechanical or incomplete, and punctuation makes sentence boundaries difficult to follow. Use clearer transitions between related points and organise each paragraph around one fully explained main idea.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “financial security,” “emergencies,” “medical treatment,” “higher education,” and “long-term goals.” These choices help communicate the main argument, and there is some attempt to use topic-specific language. However, the range is limited and several spelling errors make the writing harder to read, such as “finacial,” “unexcepted,” “situvation,” and “develope.” Some word choices or forms are also inaccurate, including “loss their job” and “saving make achive.” Aim to check spelling carefully and learn common collocations as complete phrases, such as “lose their job” and “achieve a goal.” This will make your ideas clearer and more natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, including a conditional example: “if they have some savings they can manage this situation.” This shows an effort to explain cause and effect. However, the range of structures remains limited, and errors are frequent enough to affect clarity. For example, “saving money reduce financial stress” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “young people should develop the habit of saving money from early age” needs an article. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also inconsistent, particularly in the opening and the long sentence beginning “although many young people.” Practise accurate sentence patterns, including agreement, articles, and punctuation, before adding more complex clauses.
