Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is often argued that people should start saving money for their future at any age. I totally agree with this statement because it helps in building an independent life and eventually a sense of responsibility is also developed.

One of major reasons of my agreement about saving money especially at an early age is that you get more serious about your future plans. When you are studying, doing a full-time job and saving money instead of wasting on unnecessary activities, it automatically gives you motivation about your further education and career. By doing so, you get to know how an independent life is built as well. For example, one of my good friend, Ali Haider started saving money when he was only 16 years old for his future plans as he did not wanted to put his family under any financial pressue due to him. So made himself independent when he was quite young, spent his life accordingly and even got admission in a well-known instuition.

Another contributing factor is that everyone develops a sense of responbility by saving money. Their minds get strongly mature on where it is necessary to spend money and where not. Individuals understand their responsibilites nicely like instead of running away from financial needs of their parents, children and siblings, they give complete input as per the need. Futhermore, during hard time for instance in case of a sudden emergency or accident, saved money are of the utmost help. Instead of begging money from someone, when you have your own savings, it's a mental relief.

All in all, in my opinion I completely agree that both young and older people should save money for their future, as it keeps them away from misleading activities and you have a great help in case of urgency.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction (“I totally agree”) and remains consistent in the conclusion. You give two relevant reasons: saving can encourage planning for education and work, and it can build responsibility while providing support in emergencies. Ali Haider’s example adds personal support to the first point. This covers the task well, but the ideas are not equally developed: the first reason is explained and illustrated, whereas the responsibility point relies on broad claims about supporting family members and does not show as clearly how saving develops that responsibility. To strengthen the response, explain the link between regular saving and responsible financial choices, and add a specific example or consequence to develop the second reason further.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs organised around separate reasons, and a concluding restatement of your view. Signposts such as “One of major reasons,” “Another contributing factor,” and “All in all” help readers follow the progression. Some connections, however, feel mechanical, and a few references are unclear. For example, “By doing so” could refer to studying, working, or saving, while “Their minds” does not identify its subject precisely. The final sentence also combines several points without a smooth relationship between them. Use more precise references and connect each example directly to the claim it supports; this would make the cohesion more flexible and natural.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of vocabulary, including “independent life,” “financial needs,” “sudden emergency,” and “mental relief,” so your meaning is generally clear. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “of the utmost help.” However, several inaccurate word choices, collocations, and spelling errors limit precision: “complete input” is unclear in this context, “misleading activities” does not express the intended idea, and “saved money are” is an awkward phrase. Errors such as “responbility,” “pressue,” and “instuition” also reduce accuracy. Aim for natural financial collocations and check spelling carefully; more precise wording would make your arguments sound clearer and more academic.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex forms, including a conditional sentence (“When you are studying…”) and a subordinate clause beginning “as he did not…”. Most sentences communicate the intended meaning, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “one of my good friend” needs a plural noun, and “he did not wanted” uses the wrong verb form after “did.” In “saved money are,” the subject and verb do not agree, while “So made himself independent” is missing an explicit subject. There are also some awkwardly joined or overloaded sentences. Review articles, agreement, and verb forms, and make sure each clause has a clear subject; this will improve accuracy while preserving your range of sentence structures.
