Student answer (Band 5.5)

Saving money is crutial for everyone to use it in critical circumstances or in future where it needed the most as well as emergency purposes.

It is important for everyone of us to save money for different circumstances in our life or future events. Life is really unpredictable and can move from best to worst in moments. So everyone should be prepare for those moments or any future events where we may need the money. If we save money on daily basis when we are mature and young, this could be real benefical for the future. We may lose our job or any source of earning in near future or there could be any disaster come and destoy what we needed the most. Our savings could be life saving thing for us which can be used to buy or rent new house, pay mortgages, pay rent while we are job less. WHen searching for the new job we can depend on the earnings we saved before until we found the new job or source of earning. When a man become old he couldn't do much work as he did when was young. So the old man can invest his savings in some kind buisness for side income and make life easier and enjoy the retirement life at home.

I had seen a real example in my own life where saving was really beneficial when our house drowned and fell down in flood of 2010. It was really shocking for us and we had nothing else but the saving of my father. We constructed our house again with the saving and because we had not insurance. That was really helpful for us. If we hadn't that savings, our family would become homelss at the end.

So I recommend everyone to save money for the future to use on different circumstances.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear: you agree that people should save, and you support this with relevant reasons, including unemployment, disasters, and retirement. The account of your family rebuilding after the 2010 flood is a particularly effective personal example that shows why savings matter. This fully covers the main question and gives the response a solid, relevant foundation. However, the discussion is not equally developed throughout: the points about job loss and old age are listed but receive limited explanation, and the essay does not consider any qualification, such as the difficulty of saving for people on low incomes. To strengthen the response further, explain the implications of each main reason and make the scope of your agreement more explicit.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an opening statement, a paragraph explaining reasons, a separate personal example, and a concluding recommendation. The flood story is placed logically after the general discussion and reinforces the central argument. Within the main body, however, several ideas are crowded into one long paragraph, moving from emergencies to unemployment and then retirement without clear separation. Linking phrases such as “So” and repeated references to “future” and “saving” can also make the progression feel mechanical. Some references, including “those moments” and “what we needed the most,” are not fully precise. Group related reasons into separate paragraphs and use clearer transitions to show how each point develops.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “emergency purposes,” “mortgages,” “insurance,” “source of earning,” and “retirement.” These choices help communicate the main ideas, and the personal example is understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive, which sometimes makes the reader pause. For example, “life saving thing” is not a natural expression in this context, while “house drowned” does not clearly describe a house damaged or destroyed by flooding. There are also noticeable spelling errors, such as “crutial,” “destoy,” “buisness,” and “homelss.” Build a wider set of accurate phrases for financial security and natural disasters, and check spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including conditional and time clauses, as in “If we save money on daily basis…” and “When searching for the new job…”. This shows an effort to express relationships between events, and the main message is generally recoverable. However, control is inconsistent: some complex sentences are faulty or difficult to follow, and errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction recur. For example, “everyone should be prepare” needs a different verb form, and “When a man become old he couldn't do much work as he did when was young” has several problems with agreement and clause structure. Practise building accurate complex sentences, and review tense consistency, subject–verb agreement, and article use.
