Student answer (Band 6.0)

Many people believe that it is good for everyone, especially for the young people to save finances for their future. It is not wrong to say that saving money for future is very important in the current era. Mainly for the youngsters, when the world economy is not stable.

The current generation spend their money on unnecessary shopping, buy latest phones, and spends huge amount of money at restaurants. The young people spent all their money without proper calculation, and they get short of capital. A person who burns the candles at the both ends always get confused at the end. In the early times they get job, and often earn more money then their expenses. As the time passes more money is required for their life style and basic needs of life. At that moment they realized that they should have save some money for their future needs.

Moreover a businessman who earns money and does not save any capital may have chances to suffer in future. For instance if his business lost due to some unseen circumstances, he would suffer all his life. It becomes very difficult for him to build a new business. If he saves money, he may expand his business, or incase of loss of business, he can easily build or cover his losses. At the initial stage of life everyone has limited needs and can save money, but as the time passes number of family members increase. A person has to make arrangements for the health and education of his family.

Inconclusion it is very important for everyone to spend their finances with great care, and save their capital for future needs. Also the young people especially students should teach how to spend their money.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear: you agree that saving is important, particularly for young people, and you support this with relevant points about unstable finances, business losses, and future family costs. These examples address the task and show why savings can provide security. The response also reaches a conclusion consistent with your view. However, some ideas are more fully addressed than others: the discussion of business savings is more specific, while the opening claim about young people spending on phones and restaurants is general and not supported with a concrete example. The final point about teaching students to manage money is useful but is introduced briefly. Develop these points further and explain more directly how they support your position to make the argument more consistently complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure, moving from an introduction to two supporting paragraphs and a conclusion. Paragraphs generally focus on related ideas, and signposts such as “Moreover” and “Inconclusion” help show the direction of the argument. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes uneven: the first body paragraph moves from spending habits to employment and later-life needs without clearly connecting each step. Some linking is mechanical, and references such as “At that moment” require the reader to infer which moment is meant. Improve cohesion by making the relationship between examples and claims explicit, using clearer references, and grouping related points more tightly. This would make the argument easier to follow without changing its basic organisation.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “unstable,” “capital,” “unseen circumstances,” and “expand his business,” and the meaning is generally understandable. There are also attempts to use less common expressions, such as “burns the candles at the both ends,” although this idiom is not suitable for the intended meaning and sounds unnatural in context. Word choice and collocation are often imprecise, as in “save finances,” “short of capital,” and “cover his losses.” Spelling and word-form errors, including “incase” and “Inconclusion,” also reduce accuracy. Build a more reliable range of natural phrases for discussing budgeting and financial security, and check spelling and collocations carefully. Greater precision would make your ideas clearer and more fluent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including conditional structures such as “If he saves money, he may expand his business” and a time clause beginning “As the time passes.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors occur in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction. For example, “The current generation spend” and “they should have save” show problems with agreement and verb form; “A person … always get” also needs agreement. The opening fragment, “Mainly for the youngsters, when the world economy is not stable,” is not a complete sentence. Work on forming complete sentences and checking subject–verb agreement and verb patterns, especially in longer sentences. More accurate control of these structures would make the argument easier to read.
