Student answer (Band 6.0)

There is an ongoing debate about the importance of saving their hard earned money for the betterment of their future, including everyone. Although, saving money help them secure a better future, I disagree with the idea because of the immense pressure placed upon individual for saving money.

One of the major factor to support my idea is the pressure it puts on people. Each and every household works different and hence their expenditure. This makes saving money a different challenge altogether. If money is not saved by the family, it imposes stress upon the individual, resulting to depression. For example, a typical middle class man is the sole bread winner of the family, where his salary is just enough to meet the ends and he decides to work overtime for saving time, which can potentially leads to stress. As a result, the idea of saving money induces lot of pressure in the people's life.

Another drawback of saving money for future is the loss of happiness in the present. People can get over too much in saving money, meaning they dont treat themselves well in order to save money. It becomes important to enjoy the present with the money we have rather than saving for future. This leads to poor financial management, as the present is overlooked by future.

To conclide, although saving money can help in living happy in future, I disagree with that since the drawbacks such as increased financial stress and the lack of joy in present due to saving money for the future makes the life miserable.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you disagree because saving can create pressure and reduce enjoyment in the present. Both body paragraphs address relevant aspects of this view, and the example of a sole breadwinner gives the first reason some context. However, the response only partly develops the task: it does not explain when saving might be beneficial or distinguish between sensible saving and excessive saving. The example also shifts from saving money to “saving time,” which weakens its relevance, and the claim that saving leads to poor financial management is not explained. Develop each reason with a clearer cause-and-effect explanation and a more directly relevant example to make your argument more complete and convincing.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion that restates your position. Linking phrases such as “One of the major factor,” “Another drawback,” and “To conclude” help signal the progression, and the reader can follow the main argument. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent arrangement and shows some of the next level through purposeful paragraphing. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear: “This makes saving money a different challenge altogether” does not specify what “This” refers to, while the example’s move to “saving time” interrupts the paragraph’s logic. Make references more precise and connect examples explicitly to the point they support.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including topic-related phrases such as “financial stress,” “sole bread winner,” and “financial management.” There is also some attempt at more expressive language, for example “immense pressure” and “loss of happiness in the present.” However, the range is limited by repeated use of “saving money,” “future,” and “pressure,” and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “meet the ends,” “get over too much in saving money,” and “living happy in future.” The spelling error “conclide” is also noticeable. Aim for more precise financial vocabulary and check common collocations and word forms so your meaning is consistently natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a concession in the introduction and cause-and-effect clauses such as “If money is not saved by the family, it imposes stress upon the individual.” These structures help express relationships between ideas. However, errors occur across the response and sometimes make sentences difficult to follow. Examples include “saving money help” instead of “saving money helps,” “One of the major factor,” and “which can potentially leads.” There are also problems with articles, plurals, and sentence construction, as in “pressure placed upon individual” and “Each and every household works different.” Review subject–verb agreement and noun forms, and simplify sentences when needed; then build accuracy in longer structures.
