Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, a common practice is to save money for future is followed by everyone and is considered to be indispensable. Few people agree with this belief while others are opponents.
Perhaps, I believe it is a good thing to have something with you for uncertain situations because dealing them with empty pockets even exacerbates the situation.
To begin with, people save amounts from their salaries to help themselves in future. To illustrate, they save for their kid's education, marriage or business. Moreover, it provides you survival in case of uncertanities. For instance, if a family counters with sudden death or major accident of a family member who is the building block of a house in terms of money, they can use savings for survival or for the treatment of the injured person. Furthermore, young people do not develop the habit of splurging as they have saved money that was extra from their living expenses. As a result, this will make them more mature and practical human beings. Additionally, savings can keep you safe from improverishment in case of umemployment.
However, habit of saving sometimes makes a person unnecessarily anxious of everything, therefore, he/she often tend not to spend even on necessaties in order to save. In addition, they become more practical and do not spend deliberately even on themselves and on their family members, hence, their family suffers and they do not enjoy their life.
In a nutshell, I would like to argue that savings are invaluable and everyone should save to some extent, nevertheless, it should not affect people's lives negatively.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear: you support saving, while recognising that excessive caution can harm people’s quality of life. You address the prompt’s reference to young people by noting that saving can help them become more mature, and your examples about education, emergencies and unemployment are relevant. This meets the task well, though the discussion is uneven: the benefits receive several examples, while the drawbacks are stated more generally and are not illustrated. The opening also refers to people agreeing or opposing the belief without clearly explaining that debate, which slightly distracts from your own position. To strengthen the response further, develop the qualification in your conclusion by explaining how people can balance saving with reasonable spending, and extend the point about young people with a specific example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on benefits, a contrasting paragraph and a conclusion. The progression from reasons to save to the risks of excessive saving is logical, and signposts such as “To begin with,” “However” and “In a nutshell” help readers follow it. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical because several points are introduced through a sequence of linking words (“Moreover,” “Furthermore,” “Additionally”) rather than being grouped and developed. Some references are also unclear: “they” in the sentence about young people could refer to either young people or savings, and “this” in “this will make them” has a broad antecedent. Group related benefits and use more precise references and transitions to make the flow smoother.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a reasonable range of topic vocabulary, including “survival,” “living expenses,” “splurging” and “invaluable,” and the reader can generally understand your ideas. There are also attempts at more specific phrasing, such as “the building block of a house in terms of money.” However, several word-choice and collocation problems make the expression less natural, including “save amounts from their salaries,” “counters with sudden death,” and “provides you survival.” Spelling errors such as “uncertanities,” “improverishment,” “umemployment” and “necessaties” are noticeable. Aim for accurate, conventional combinations and check spelling carefully; this will make your vocabulary more effective without requiring more complicated words.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional structures (“if a family… they can use savings”) and a contrast introduced by “However.” Most of the meaning remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “a common practice is to save money for future is followed” has an awkward and incomplete structure, while “Perhaps, I believe” combines two ways of expressing an opinion. Articles and plural forms also need attention in phrases such as “habit of saving” and “on necessaties” (the latter also involves spelling). Some long sentences join several ideas with commas, making their structure harder to control. Practise building clear clauses and checking articles, agreement and punctuation, especially in longer sentences.
