Student answer (Band 6.0)

Financial stability is the matter of ongoing debate around the world. People are certain of the fact that every individual must save money for a better future, despite any age. I strongly agree with this view point due to several compelling reasons.

The benefits of saving money are considerable. One possible explanation is to understand the value and importance of money by saving it for future. Youth must know how to handle money by teaching them about saving pocket money for an item they want to buy and by briefing them the basic terms related to finance like budgeting, taxation and the dangers of credit. When people can strike a balance between all these, they are likely to save money and spend on useful products. Moreover, families with little knowledge on saving and handling funds can also pass these poor habits in their future generations as well.

Furthermore, in an era where money is the only thing that makes people happy, they are ought to spend their funds only on the products they need the most. People maintaining high standards of living aften forget to economize well. This results in disruption of financial stability in near future. Subsequently, most of the people today prefer living alone, they can gain complete autonomy by enjoying freedom only when they have enough funds to support them in future.

In conclusion, it is crucial for everone living in the present age to save and handle money in an appropriate manner, by spending on only nessessary items and educating young ones the importance of being finacially independent, for its better use in their future.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction (“I strongly agree”) and remains consistent in the conclusion. You address the importance of saving for young people through teaching them to save pocket money and understand basic financial concepts, and you also discuss financial independence and avoiding instability. These are relevant reasons, but they are not developed equally: the point about passing poor habits between generations is brief, while the claim that money is “the only thing that makes people happy” is broad and not convincingly supported. To strengthen the response, explain more fully how saving benefits people at different life stages and add a specific example to support one of your main arguments. This would make the ideas more fully extended.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting reasons, and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “Furthermore,” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the argument. However, some connections between ideas are abrupt or unclear. For example, the move from high living standards to people living alone is not fully explained, and “Subsequently” does not clearly show how the preceding point leads to autonomy. The second body paragraph also combines spending habits, financial stability, and independence without a sufficiently clear progression. Use more precise links between claims and explain the relationship between them; this would make cohesion less mechanical and the argument easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some topic-relevant vocabulary, including “financial stability,” “budgeting,” “taxation,” “economize,” and “financially independent.” This gives the response an adequate range for discussing personal finance, and the intended meaning is generally understandable. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “briefing them the basic terms,” “they are ought to spend,” and “for its better use.” There are also spelling errors, including “aften,” “everone,” “nessessary,” and “finacially,” which reduce precision. Aim to learn common word partnerships and check spelling carefully. More accurate phrasing, rather than simply adding rarer vocabulary, would make your ideas clearer and more natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You attempt a mix of simple and complex structures, including the sentence beginning “When people can strike a balance…” and the concluding sentence with several linked ideas. Most sentences remain understandable, but some grammatical errors affect accuracy. For example, “People are certain of the fact that every individual must save money… despite any age” has an awkwardly formed clause, while “they are ought to spend” uses an incorrect verb construction. In “by teaching them about saving pocket money,” the relationship between the subject and the teaching action is also unclear. Work on verb patterns, clause construction, and sentence boundaries, and simplify sentences when several ideas are being joined. Greater control of these structures would make the argument more fluent.
