Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is true that money plays an important part in the life of individuals. Therfore, youngsters should save more money for their future. I partially agree with this statement and discuss my viewpoints in the enumerated paragraphs.

On the one hand, its is very important and beneficial for teenagers to save money. First and foremost, they should spend money when they needed it because wastage of money will affect their future life. They should spend on basic necessities such as food, shelter and clothes. It is not good to buy unnecessary things. Another reason is, they can save money for education and better future. To explain it, spending on education is much more important than spending on commodities which are less important to buy. Thus, it will improve their knowledge and they will be successful in life. They can spend on educational platforms to enlarge knowledge.

On the contrary, although wastage of money is bad, yet it is very important to spend on various things such as on special ocassions they should spend money so that they can enjoy. Firstly, young ones earn good amount of money for doing jobs so, it is good to buy things for themselves. It will improve their overall growth and personality. As a result, they do more hardwork to achieve more success so that they can buy whatever they want. Secondly, it is the best time to enjoy their life for young people if they miss this opportunity, they will not enjoy in adult age because that age is meant to be more stressful. They can go to malls for shopping and watch movies so that they can relax from their hectic schedules.

In conclusion, saving money is the best skill for everyone because they can use it in hard time. However, it is very crucial to buy necessary things and they should enjoy this age because growing older is more stressful and anxious.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is stated clearly: “I partially agree,” and the conclusion returns to the balance between saving for difficult times and spending on enjoyment. You address both sides with relevant points, including saving for education and allowing young people to enjoy their lives. However, some ideas are not fully explained or are unclear. For example, “they should spend money when they needed it” does not clearly support the point about saving, and the claim that buying things improves “overall growth and personality” needs a specific explanation or example. Develop each main reason with a clearer link to the importance of saving, and make your degree of agreement more explicit throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two contrasting body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphs are generally organised around one side of the argument, and signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the contrary,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the discussion. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. The first body paragraph begins by supporting saving but then says teenagers “should spend money when they needed it,” which disrupts the progression. The second paragraph also moves quickly from earning money to personality, hard work, and leisure without fully linking these points. Use transitions that show the precise relationship between ideas, and make references such as “this opportunity” more specific.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a range of relevant vocabulary, including “basic necessities,” “commodities,” “educational platforms,” and “hectic schedules,” so the topic is generally expressed clearly. There are also attempts to use more formal language, such as “beneficial” and “overall growth.” However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, including “wastage of money,” “enlarge knowledge,” and “do more hardwork.” Spelling errors such as “Therfore” and “ocassions” also reduce accuracy. Aim for natural combinations of words and check spelling carefully; more precise vocabulary would help you express the distinction between saving, essential spending, and discretionary spending.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a concession structure in “although wastage of money is bad, yet…” and a conditional sentence beginning “if they miss this opportunity.” Meaning is usually understandable, but some grammatical errors remain. Examples include “its is” instead of “it is,” “when they needed it” after the general statement, and “young people if they miss this opportunity,” where the clause connection needs clearer punctuation or restructuring. There are also issues with articles and sentence construction, as in “earn good amount of money.” Review subject–verb and tense consistency, article use, and punctuation around longer clauses. More consistently accurate complex sentences would strengthen the response.
