Student answer (Band 5.5)

Savings are very crucial in modern era which helps you meet your requirement where you needed support in different aspects of life. It is compulsory for every member of society to save their earnings for the future. Savings helps you alot in yiour future when you do loss in your business. It also assists you when a natural disaster or illness happens in future. I totally agree with statement of saving your money for your future use. Below is the discussion of my aggreement on the discussed topic.

To begin with, it is clear that you are running any kind of business and you are earning very good, therefore, you have to save some of the money from your income, due to the fact, that you do not know business in your coming days, whether, it will be in loss or in profit where you should mentally be prepared for your loss in future from savings. For instance, one of my friend started to run a business, so, he start earning and was not saving his money, after that, the covid-19 took place and a lock down was held all over the world where he could not have a penny then to spend in his house.

Coming to the other point, where i agreed with is that you should be aware of the diseases that can be caused to you and your family in future, nevertheless, you shoukd need your saved money for your personal use, such as, illness. For instance , my father saved money for our future use and one night i got very seriouse sickness and i was directly shifted to hospital where the saved money come in use.

I will conclude this topic with my own perspective that earning helps you maintane rest of your life with ease and comfort eventhough, if you are younger or older.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you state, “I totally agree,” and support saving with two relevant reasons—business setbacks and unexpected illness. The examples about your friend during the COVID-19 lockdown and your own hospital visit help connect the argument to real situations. However, the response addresses the topic only partially because it focuses mainly on emergencies and gives little consideration to why saving matters more broadly for everyone, particularly young people planning for later life. Some points are also under-developed: explain how savings provide security or help meet future goals, rather than relying mainly on the examples. The conclusion mentions ease and comfort but does not clearly bring together the reasons or reinforce the specific argument.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. Phrases such as “To begin with” and “For instance” signal the intended relationship between ideas, and each body paragraph has a main focus. However, progression is not consistently clear: the introduction repeats the claim about saving before the discussion begins, while the conclusion introduces a broad point about earning rather than summarising the argument. Several linking expressions are awkward or overused, including “Coming to the other point, where i agreed with” and “nevertheless,” which does not express the intended contrast. Improve cohesion by using simpler, accurate transitions and making each paragraph develop one reason in a clear sequence: claim, explanation and example.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “earnings,” “business,” “natural disaster,” “illness” and “saved money.” The examples are understandable, and some phrases show an attempt to discuss financial security. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations sound unnatural, such as “meet your requirement,” “do loss in your business,” and “a lock down was held.” Spelling errors, including “alot,” “yiour,” “aggreement” and “seriouse,” also reduce accuracy. Build a more precise set of expressions for saving and financial risk, and check spelling carefully. Choosing natural phrases such as “cover essential expenses” and “suffer a business loss” would make the argument clearer and more appropriate for an academic essay.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including conditional and subordinate structures, as in “you do not know business in your coming days, whether, it will be in loss or in profit.” However, complex sentences are often faulty, and frequent errors sometimes make the reader work to understand the meaning. Examples include “Savings helps,” where the subject and verb do not agree, and “one of my friend started … so, he start earning,” which has errors in number and verb form. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also inconsistent, particularly where commas interrupt clauses. Practise building accurate sentences with one main idea and a clear subject and verb, then add subordinate clauses only when you can control their structure. Review agreement, tense consistency and articles.
