Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is important for everyone, including young people, to save money for their future.Though many people agree with this statement and some might refute with this as well. But in my opinion, I strongly agree with this view that we save for our future because of the increasing inflation worldwide we don't know how stable we are or we might face some unexpected emergencies.

One major reason i believe that young people should save for their future is because of increasing inflation. The cost of food, utensils or everyday items are increasing unexpectedly, as a youngster we dont know how stable economy we are living in, unless we are good at making guesses. for example, a recent day war between Iran and United States of America, it has drastic impacts on the region, due to which Iran closed the state of hormutz which is the main passage for the ships to pass, ultimately causing the trade to stop, which resulted into high fuel prices and inflation reaching to a new high.

Another important reason why i believe that young people should save is because of the unexpected emergencies. These emergencies could be personal life, health, family or to some other intent related. As a youngster we should be ready for it. for example, back in 2019, when all of the world economies were stable, we did face a worldwide disease covid-19 which had brutally effected our economies even nowadays, some nations are still recovering from its losses.

In conclusion, I completely agree with young people saving money for their future because of the unstable economies which are substantially increasing inflation and unexpected emergencies that we are not aware of.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction—“I strongly agree”—and remains consistent in the conclusion. You address the prompt with two relevant reasons: inflation and unexpected emergencies, supported by examples involving fuel prices and COVID-19. This meets the task well, and the examples show an effort to explain why saving matters. However, the inflation example is lengthy and its connection to an individual young person’s need to save could be made more explicit. The emergencies paragraph also names several possible situations but develops them mainly through one broad example. To strengthen the response further, explain more directly how savings help people manage these pressures and develop each reason with balanced, specific detail.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs organised around separate reasons, and a conclusion. Phrases such as “One major reason” and “Another important reason” help signal the progression. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, and some links between ideas are unclear. The opening sentence “Though many people agree … But in my opinion” combines contrasting markers awkwardly, while the long Iran example moves through several events without clearly separating cause and consequence. The paragraph about emergencies also shifts from personal, health and family situations to the pandemic quite abruptly. Use fewer formulaic transitions and make the relationship between each example and the main point explicit; clearer sentence boundaries would also improve the flow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “inflation,” “unexpected emergencies,” “stable economies,” and “recovering from its losses.” These choices make your main ideas understandable. However, the range is limited in places, with repeated use of “young people,” “save,” and “increasing,” and several expressions are imprecise or unnatural, such as “good at making guesses,” “to some other intent related,” and “inflation reaching to a new high.” Spelling and word-form slips, including “dont,” “hormutz,” and “effected,” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise collocations and vary key terms—for example, describe financial uncertainty and rising living costs directly. This would make the argument clearer and more fluent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “because,” “when,” and “which,” and the overall meaning is generally recoverable. However, complex structures are often faulty, and sentence boundaries and punctuation are inconsistent. For example, “Though many people agree … But in my opinion” is not a complete, well-formed contrast, while “as a youngster we dont know how stable economy we are living in” has problems with agreement and clause structure. The long sentence beginning “for example, a recent day war…” also joins several ideas without clear punctuation. Practise building shorter, accurate sentences first, then combine them with controlled subordinate clauses. Check capitalisation, articles, agreement, and punctuation during revision.
