Student answer (Band 5.5)

saving money, the topic is not simply a black and white concept. A diverse opinion can be observed about the topic. generally young people prefer to live freely and worry little about saving money whereas elderly treat saving money as a necessity.

According to the knowledge i have gained in my lifetime, i believe saving money is equally important as living healthy. the uncertainty of life can hit at a random moment and having some money at ur hand can prove to be life saving. imagine urself in a situation where ur family needs urgent medical attention or ur wife needs a gift or ur kid is joining college.these casses are peime example of real life situations where money would be life changing. abut does it mean that one should save money and not lifve life to the fullest in the present.that would be the most misleading piece of advice one could extract from the reasoning as i believe today is a gift and tomorrow is a mustery. we certainly should prepare for the mystery, but never at the exoense of our gift. .an incident crosses my mind always in this context, my friend's accident case, where his savings eventually proved to be life saving.

all in all, my believe is to save money and spend money simultaneously. enjoying the present without compromising on the future is rather non-negotiable. Life is uncertain, a quote which hwlps you to believe that today might me the kast day but it also teaches us to prepare for the fture and one can only truly succeed if lived and saved at the fullest.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you support saving while also arguing that people should enjoy the present. You address both the value of preparation and the risk of saving at the expense of current life, and the examples of urgent medical needs and your friend’s accident are relevant. This covers the main question, but some points are asserted rather than fully explained. For instance, the references to a wife’s gift and a child joining college are listed without showing how they illustrate the need for long-term saving. The final claim that people can “succeed if lived and saved at the fullest” is also unclear. Develop each example and explain more precisely how it supports your balanced position.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has an identifiable progression: it introduces differing attitudes, explains why savings matter, considers the balance with present enjoyment, and ends with a summary. Phrases such as “According to the knowledge…” and “all in all” help signal stages in the argument. However, the ideas are crowded into long blocks, and the shift from the general discussion to your friend’s accident is abrupt. Some links are unclear, particularly “but does it mean…” and the connection between the quotation about life’s uncertainty and the final conclusion. Use separate paragraphs for the introduction, supporting reasons, counterpoint, and conclusion, and make each transition show the relationship between ideas rather than relying mainly on signposting phrases.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant expressions, including “uncertainty of life,” “urgent medical attention,” and “at the expense of,” which help communicate the topic. There are also attempts at more expressive language, such as “today is a gift,” but several choices are inaccurate or unnatural and sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. “A diverse opinion” is not a natural way to describe differing views, while “life saving” is repeated and “my believe” uses the wrong word form. Numerous spelling errors, including “mystery,” “expense,” and “future,” further reduce clarity. Aim for precise, conventional collocations and proofread carefully; a smaller range used accurately would make your argument more effective.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a mixture of simple and more complex sentences, including the conditional example beginning “imagine yourself in a situation where…”. However, control is inconsistent, and errors in sentence boundaries, agreement, articles, and verb forms sometimes make the argument hard to read. For example, “saving money is equally important as living healthy” has an awkward comparison structure, and “one can only truly succeed if lived and saved” lacks a clear grammatical subject and verb construction. Several sentences run together, such as the transition from “present” to “that would be…”, while punctuation and capitalisation are also unreliable. Practise building complete sentences with clear subjects and verbs, then check each sentence for agreement and punctuation.
