Student answer (Band 5.5)

The statement that young people, to save money for their future has sparked considerable debate. I completely agree with this view for several reasons, which I will discuss in this essay.

To begin with, one of the main reasons for this is that saving money for the future has a significant imapct on individuals and society in long term. On of the most compelling reason is that young people earn from soical media. This is evident because many young people users compare their lives to others online and feel less confident. For instance, young people who save a small amount of money every month can use it to pay for their higher education or deal with unexpected expenses. As a result, they can become financially independent and avoid depending on others.

Furthermore, saving money at an early age helps individuals develop good financial habits. They learn how to manage their income and distinguish between their needs and wants. For example, a student who saves a part of their pocket money may be able to buy a laptop for educational purposes in the future.

In conclusion, I strongly agree that everyone, including young people, should save money for their future because it provides financial security and helps them achieve their long-term goals.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear from the introduction (“I completely agree”) and conclusion, and you give relevant reasons: savings can support education or unexpected costs, and saving can build financial habits. However, the first body paragraph is confusing: the claim that young people “earn from social media” and the comparison of online lives do not clearly explain why saving is important. The laptop example is relevant, but the reasons are only briefly developed and supported, so the response addresses the task only partially. The response is 203 words, which is 47 words below the 250-word minimum; the eight words copied from the prompt are excluded. Develop each reason with a clearer explanation and a specific example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin with,” “Furthermore,” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the argument. However, progression within the first body paragraph is weak: the discussion moves from social media earnings to online comparisons, then to saving for education, without showing how these points connect. The repeated use of “For instance” and “For example” also makes the linking somewhat mechanical. Build each paragraph around one clear reason, then use a sentence to explain how the example supports it. This would make the overall organisation more coherent and the connections between ideas clearer.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use adequate vocabulary for the topic, including “financially independent,” “unexpected expenses,” “financial habits,” and “long-term goals.” These phrases communicate relevant ideas, but the range is uneven and some word choices or spelling errors reduce precision. For example, “earn from social media” is unclear in context, and “young people users” is an awkward phrase. There are also spelling errors such as “imapct,” “soical,” and “On” in “On of the most compelling reason.” Aim for more precise topic vocabulary and check spelling and collocations carefully. Replacing unclear expressions with phrases such as “rely on income from social media” or “compare their lifestyles with others” would make your meaning more natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, and several sentences are clear and accurate, such as “They learn how to manage their income and distinguish between their needs and wants.” The conditional example beginning “For instance, young people who save…” also shows an attempt to express a consequence. Some grammatical errors remain, including the opening fragment-like construction (“The statement that young people, to save money…”), the missing article in “in long term,” and the singular/plural mismatch in “one of the most compelling reason.” The sentence about social media users is also difficult to follow structurally. Check that introductory clauses are complete, and review articles and agreement when editing. These issues do not generally prevent understanding.
