Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You express a generally supportive view of saving money and give several relevant reasons, including paying rent, dealing with health problems, and helping family or charities. These examples show an attempt to address the topic. However, the response only partially develops the argument: it does not clearly explain why saving is important for everyone, especially young people, and several points are repeated or unclear. The discussion of food waste and shopping is relevant but needs a clearer link to future financial security. The conclusion restates benefits rather than summarising a developed position. The response is also below the required 250 words. To strengthen the answer, state your degree of agreement directly and explain each main reason with a specific, well-connected example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5

There is a recognisable overall direction: you introduce saving, give examples of spending, and finish by listing benefits. Some linking expressions, such as “For example,” “As a result,” and “However,” help signal relationships between ideas. However, the response is presented as one continuous block, so the reader cannot easily distinguish an introduction, supporting paragraphs, and a conclusion. Progression is also weak: points about health, hostels, food, housing, and shopping are added in quick succession, with repeated claims such as “saving money plays a very important role.” Several connectors do not clearly fit the relationship between sentences. Use separate paragraphs organised around two or three reasons, and make each example follow directly from the point it supports.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use a basic range of topic-related vocabulary, including “save money,” “rent,” “health problems,” “charities,” and “shopping,” so the general subject is usually understandable. There are also attempts to give concrete examples, such as “fast foods” and “jewellery items.” However, vocabulary is repetitive, particularly repeated forms of “waste money” and “important role,” and some choices or combinations are unclear, including “helps in buidling houses” and “support in charrities.” Spelling errors such as “resturants,” “buidling,” and “fess” also reduce accuracy. Build a wider set of precise expressions for financial planning and future needs, and check spelling and natural word combinations. For example, describe money as being “set aside” for emergencies or “used to cover” essential expenses.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response mainly uses simple statements and attempts some longer sentences with “because,” “if,” and “as a result.” This gives you a starting point for expressing causes and examples. However, sentence structures are limited, and frequent errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “They wastes their money,” “Many students was living,” “saving money is plays,” and “if you are lived in a hostel.” Capital letters are also used inconsistently after commas and within sentences. Practise forming accurate subject–verb combinations and past and present verb forms, then build longer sentences from correct clauses. Careful punctuation and sentence separation will make your ideas easier to understand.
