Student answer (Band 6.5)

Currently, it is widely suggested that people, especially youngsters, should save money for their upcoming life. I strongly agree with the statement because saving money for future prepares your for unexpected circumstances, and also having extra money in your acount gives more confidence.

Saving money for future can prepare you for accidental situations. Everyone can meet the unexpected circumastances such as, losing job, a road accident or medical emergency. Therefore, it is a mature decison to conciously plan your finance for such emergencies. Not only this, but one can also help someone in that emergency situation instead of getting loans from banks or relatives. This can be seen in people, for instance, who plan their expenses, and save moeny for future, spend it on medical emergencies rather applying for loans. Thus, savings bring preparedness in for such experience, and help to deal with the dreadful n events without falling into debt traps.

Along with this, moeny in your saving accout more likely gives you confidence. For instance, you do not need to step out of a social setting in an expensive restuarant simply because you do not have money. In addition, owing to the saved money, you can buy items that you require, instanty without thinking whether buying them will impact your budget or not. All these things give you more confidence and improve your decision making.

Critics rightly conted that saving rigorously may impact your daily routine as people hold themselves to buy essential goods while thinking of budegting. I agree with this and suggest that there should be a balance between unplanned spending and too conscious budgeting. In this way, one can plan for future and also meet their needs.

To conclude, it is essential for everyone, including adults, to plan their finances for their futures expenditures. I strongly advocate this statement because, despite some cirticism, saving amount always prepares you for future and gives you extra confidence in everyday life.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

Your position is clear from the introduction—“I strongly agree”—and remains consistent in the conclusion. You address the prompt with two relevant reasons: savings can help with emergencies and provide financial confidence. The examples of medical costs, job loss and avoiding loans support the first reason, while the restaurant and necessary-purchase examples illustrate the second. You also acknowledge the counterargument that strict saving can restrict daily life and offer a balanced response. This covers the task well, with ideas extended and supported. To strengthen the response further, develop the confidence argument more precisely: explain how financial security affects choices or reduces stress, rather than relying mainly on the restaurant scenario. Some claims, such as savings improving decision-making, would also benefit from clearer explanation.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two supporting paragraphs, a counterargument and response, and a conclusion. The progression from emergency preparedness to confidence is easy to follow, and signposts such as “Along with this,” “In addition,” and “To conclude” help guide the reader. The counterargument is also placed logically before the conclusion. Cohesion is generally effective, though some linking phrases feel formulaic or do not express the relationship precisely; for example, “Not only this, but” is awkwardly formed, and “Thus” repeats the preceding point rather than advancing it. Improve flow by using clearer references between sentences and varying transitions, while ensuring each paragraph develops one central idea without repeating its conclusion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “unexpected circumstances,” “medical emergency,” “budget,” “essential goods,” and “debt traps.” These choices make your main points understandable, and phrases such as “plan your finances” suit the task. However, spelling errors and inaccurate word forms are noticeable, including “acount,” “circumastances,” “decison,” “moeny,” and “budegting.” Some collocations are also unnatural: “accidental situations,” “saving amount,” and “prepare you for future” do not express your meaning idiomatically. The range is adequate for discussing the topic, but greater accuracy and more natural combinations are needed for stronger control. Proofread spelling carefully and learn common financial collocations, such as “build an emergency fund” and “cover unexpected expenses.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional structure in “one can also help someone in that emergency situation” and a concession in “despite some criticism.” Most sentences communicate the intended meaning, and errors rarely prevent understanding. Some grammatical problems remain, however. In the opening, “prepares your for” has an incorrect pronoun, and “saving money for future” needs an article or possessive determiner. The sentence beginning “Critics rightly…” has an unclear construction, while “people hold themselves to buy” uses an incorrect verb pattern. There are also punctuation issues, such as the comma after “such as.” Review articles, pronoun forms, and verb patterns, and revise longer sentences to make their grammatical relationships clear.
