Student answer (Band 6.0)

Certain people believe that saving money is indispensable including young generation for the coming years. I partialy agree because this practice can bring significant benefits in terms of future security and proect people from unforeseen problems, but ignoring present basic needs and opportunities can be detrimental.

One of the main advantages is that it could be helpful in key-life milestones such as wedding and owing a house. For exapmle, If individuals save money ,this would be helpful during proprietorship of a house. As a result, they do not have to take unnecessary loans from bank. Since weddings costs more and put pressure on people particularly for impoverished sections, saving substantial capital can bring ease for them. Additonally, when individuals become older, having handsome amount can facilitate them during health problem or other unpredictable consequences.

On the flip side, stacking up the money without considering about the current needs can be inappropriate. The youger generations must prioritise gaining knowledge about different skills that could be helpful in the long run. This is the age when youngsters should focus to buil their character. Furthermore, they must invest in education, especially for colleges and universities fees. However, they must spend money on building the businesse.

In conclusion, where saving money can bring some advantages such as reducing pressure in times of need and protect from debts, but giving attention to the current needs is equally important. I believe it is beneficial to save amount for future, however education and developing new skills should be given more importance.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear: you partly agree, supporting saving for future security while arguing that present needs, education and skills also matter. The response addresses both sides and gives relevant examples, including housing, weddings, health problems and education costs. This meets the task well overall. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained. For instance, the discussion of weddings and “impoverished sections” does not show why saving is especially important in that context, and the final point about spending on a business is not developed. To strengthen the response, explain the consequences of each example and connect them more explicitly to your degree of agreement. A more precise distinction between essential saving and excessive saving would also make the argument more fully developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your position, the body paragraphs present benefits and limitations, and the conclusion restates your view. Linking phrases such as “One of the main advantages,” “On the flip side,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the argument. This provides coherent progression, although some connections are mechanical or unclear. The opening sentence of the conclusion uses “where” and “but” in a way that makes the relationship between the ideas awkward. Within the second body paragraph, the move from skills to education and then business spending would benefit from clearer explanation of how these examples support the same point. Use more precise referencing and transitions, and organise each paragraph around one central claim.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “unforeseen problems,” “milestones,” “substantial capital,” and “prioritise,” which helps communicate ideas about financial planning. However, several inaccurate word choices, collocations and spelling errors limit precision and sometimes make the reader pause. Examples include “key-life milestones,” “proprietorship of a house,” “handsome amount,” and “health problem”; these are not natural expressions in the intended contexts. There are also misspellings such as “partialy,” “proect,” and “Additonally.” Aim to use familiar vocabulary accurately before reaching for less common phrases, and check spelling carefully. More natural collocations would make your argument clearer and demonstrate greater control of vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional structure in “If individuals save money, this would be helpful” and a subordinate clause beginning “when individuals become older.” This shows some range, and the main ideas are generally understandable. However, errors in sentence construction, agreement, articles, plurals and punctuation remain noticeable. For example, “Since weddings costs more” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “they must focus to buil their character” uses an incorrect verb pattern. The conclusion’s “where … but” construction also creates a faulty sentence relationship. Work on accurate clause linking and verb patterns, and proofread for sentence boundaries and commas. Greater consistency in these areas would make your varied structures easier to follow.
