Student answer (Band 5.5)

In this modern world, people believe that everyone should conserve money for their future requirements. Although investments and insurance are better ways to conserve the future but I believe that saving is good idea for everyone because it helps us face uncertainities and help individual to fulfill dreams of individual.

Investment and insurance planning helps secure the future of individual. To be more precise, Planning future by choosing best investment planning such as retirement and life insurance secure the future of individual in these plans people pay premium while they are earning some money and they get benefit in future. Furthermore choosing health insurance covers their expenses for medical uncertainities. So, few people advocate that saving money is useless if people do proper future planning.

On the other hand, saving money helps secure the future. In simple words, future is uncertain and savings helps individual to face the consequences. In addition to this, individuals can achieve their dreams through the savings. In other words, everyone has few interests such as few interested in expensive cars, bikes and so on. Savings helps people to fulfill their dreams without compromising with their needs. As a consequence, they will become independent and they will no further relied on high interest bank loans.

In conclusion, I maintain that while insurance and financial investments are required for everyone in their life but financial literacy for saving is also matters as it help face the challenges for future. I believe that people should choose the balanced approach for their future.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is generally clear: you support saving while acknowledging that insurance and investment can also protect people’s futures. The response addresses the prompt with relevant points about unexpected costs, personal goals, and avoiding loans. However, the discussion is only partly developed. The paragraph on investment and insurance explains those options but does not clearly show how they relate to your degree of agreement, and the examples of cars and bikes remain general rather than illustrating a specific situation. The conclusion introduces “financial literacy” without explaining its role. To strengthen the response, state your extent of agreement more precisely and develop each main reason with a concrete example and a clearer link to your position.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate discussion of financial planning and saving, and a conclusion. Linking phrases such as “On the other hand,” “In addition to this,” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the argument. However, progression is not always smooth: the first body paragraph presents an opposing view, but the relationship between that view and your own position could be made clearer. Some connections are mechanical or repetitive, particularly “In simple words” and “In other words.” References such as “these plans” and “they” can also be unclear. Improve cohesion by making each paragraph’s central point explicit and using pronouns only when their reference is unmistakable.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “investment,” “insurance,” “premium,” “medical,” and “independent,” and you attempt more formal expressions such as “uncertainities” and “financial literacy.” However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or repetitive, which limits precision. For example, “conserve money” is less natural than “save money,” and “planning future” needs a more idiomatic form. There are also spelling errors, including “uncertainities,” and repeated use of “individual” and “future.” Aim to use a smaller set of accurate, natural phrases rather than forcing formal wording, and check spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a concession in the introduction and clauses beginning with “while” and “because.” Meaning is generally understandable, but errors recur in sentence structure, agreement, articles, and verb forms. For instance, “Although investments and insurance are better ways … but I believe” combines two contrasting structures; “savings helps” has a subject–verb agreement problem; and “they will no further relied” uses an incorrect verb form. The sentence beginning “In these plans” also needs clearer punctuation and structure. Practise building accurate complex sentences, especially with although/while clauses, and check that subjects agree with verbs and that each verb has the correct form.
