It is important for everyone, including young people, to save money for their future.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

It is often argued that saving money for the future is essential for all individuals, including the younger generation. I completely argued with this statement because saving provides financial security and fosters important life skills.

The main reason to save money is to ensure financial stability in term of uncertainity. Life is unpredictable and unexpected expenses such as medical emergencies, job loss or urgent travel can arise at any time. For example, a person who has savings can hanlde a medical bill without taking on debt, whereas someone who has no savings may face severe stress. For young people, starting to save early means that will have a financial cushion when they move out for university or start their first job. This habit will reduce dependence on parents and built independence.

Furthermore, saving money teaches valuable discpline and planning skills. When young people learn to manage their income and set aside a portion of it, they develope self control and the ability to distinguish between needs and wants. For instance, a teenager who save money to buy a laptop instead of spending it immediately on entertaiment learn paitence and goal setting. These are crucial skills not only for personal finance also for their future career and personal lives. This discipline also discourage impulsive spending, which is common in a consumer driven society.

Some may argue that young people should enjoy their youth and spend money freely because their financial responsibilities are low. While it is true that youth is a time for experiences, this doesnot means that savings should be ignored. Even saving a small amount, such as 10% of their allowance, can create a balance between enjoyment and responsibility.

In conclusion, I strongly believe that saving money is vital for everyone, including young people. It not only provides security against future uncertainties but also instills essential skills like discipline and financial management that benefits them throughout their lives.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

Your position is clear from the introduction—“I completely argued with this statement” is intended to express strong agreement—and remains consistent in the conclusion. You address the central issue with two relevant reasons: savings provide security during emergencies and help young people develop financial discipline. The examples of medical bills, moving out for university, and saving for a laptop make the discussion concrete. You also acknowledge the counterargument that young people should enjoy their youth and respond with the practical suggestion of saving a portion of an allowance. To develop the response further, explain more precisely how these habits benefit people over the long term; the career and personal-life benefits are asserted rather than illustrated. A few claims, such as savings reducing dependence on parents, could also be qualified or explained.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two supporting paragraphs, a counterargument, and a conclusion. The progression from financial security to personal discipline is logical, and signposts such as “Furthermore,” “For instance,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the argument. The counterargument is also placed effectively before the conclusion. However, some linking is mechanical, with several paragraphs relying on explicit transitions rather than developing connections between ideas. A few references are unclear or awkward—for example, “These are crucial skills” follows several ideas, so the exact skills could be named again. Improve cohesion by using more precise referencing and by linking each example directly back to the paragraph’s main claim.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “financial stability,” “financial cushion,” “self control,” “impulsive spending,” and “consumer driven society.” These choices communicate the main ideas clearly, and some phrases show an attempt to use more specific language. However, spelling and word-choice errors occur in items such as “uncertainity,” “hanlde,” “discpline,” “develope,” and “entertaiment.” There are also collocation or word-form problems, including “built independence” and “a person who has savings.” These do not prevent understanding, but they reduce precision and control. Proofread carefully and learn common word partnerships, such as “build independence” and “cope with an unexpected bill,” to make your vocabulary more natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional structures such as “whereas someone who has no savings may face severe stress” and a concession beginning “While it is true that youth is a time for experiences.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “means that will have” is missing a subject, “a teenager who save” has incorrect subject–verb agreement, and “doesnot means” has an incorrect auxiliary construction. The final sentence also needs agreement: “skills … that benefits” should use a plural verb. Work on checking subjects and verbs, complete clauses, and auxiliary forms. Greater accuracy in these areas would make your varied sentences more controlled.
