Student answer (Band 6.5)

Many people argue that everyone including the younger generation should save money for their future. I mostly agree with this statement.

Saving money is an essential habit everyone must learn. Money management is an important skill for us. It is necessary for every young person to know how to spend their money wisely. Spending money on luxurious items when you can't effort them is a recipe for disaster. We should save money in case of emergency. For example, if we get into an accident the medical bills can be very high. Paying them without savings can become really difficult. Also having savings can prepare us for any disaster that might befall us. Additonally, saving money can make us spend money on more expensive and imporant items. If we spend all our money when we get it we won't have enough money to buy better and more expensive things that we aim to buy. Saving money is an investment for the future and investing in the future is always beneficial for us espeically for the younger generation.

Making the habit of wisely spending our money is essential for us. On the other hand, we shouldn't be too conservative with our money either. We should not keep our money locked up in a locker or bank. By keeping the cash flowing we can ensure economical growth in the country. Infact, we must invest our money into achieving greater wealth which we can't do without spending some money.

In conclusion, it is important to invest some money and keep the cash flowing in the economy. But being wise with our money and saving wherever we can is the best habit the young people can practice in order to have a secure future for ourselves.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction: you mostly agree that young people should save, while also arguing that money should be invested and circulated. You give relevant reasons, including emergency medical costs, planning for larger purchases, and contributing to economic growth. These points address the question, and the accident example helps make one reason concrete. However, the benefits of saving are developed more fully than the counterargument about spending and investment; the claim that keeping cash flowing supports national growth is asserted rather than explained. Some points also overlap, particularly the repeated idea of spending wisely and saving for future needs. To strengthen the response, explain how saving and investing can be balanced and develop the economic-growth point with a specific example or clearer reasoning.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a coherent overall structure: it introduces your position, presents reasons for saving, considers a qualification, and concludes by restating a balanced view. Paragraphing generally supports this progression, and examples such as the medical-bill scenario are placed where they are relevant. You also use linking expressions such as “For example,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion.” At times, however, connections feel mechanical or repetitive: “Additionally” and “Also” introduce similar points, while several sentences repeat the idea of spending wisely without clearly advancing the argument. The shift from saving for emergencies to buying more expensive items could be signposted more clearly. Grouping related benefits and using clearer references to the ideas being discussed would make the progression smoother.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “money management,” “medical bills,” “cash flowing,” and “secure future.” These expressions communicate your main ideas, and some topic-specific language helps you discuss both saving and investment. However, there are several spelling and word-choice problems, including “effort” for “afford,” “imporant,” “Additonally,” and “espeically.” Some phrases are also imprecise or unnatural: “spend money on more expensive and important items” does not clearly express the intended idea, and “keep our money locked up in a locker or bank” is awkward. Aim for more precise financial vocabulary and check spelling carefully. More natural collocations would make the argument clearer and more fluent without changing its meaning.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional structures such as “If we get into an accident, the medical bills can be very high” and “If we spend all our money … we won’t have enough.” Most sentences are understandable, and the grammar errors do not prevent the reader from following your position. Some sentence-level issues remain. For example, “Also having savings can prepare us” would be clearer with a comma after the introductory phrase, and “the best habit the young people can practice in order to have a secure future for ourselves” shifts awkwardly between third-person and first-person reference. The sentence beginning “Additionally, saving money can make us spend…” also has an unclear grammatical relationship between saving and spending. Review punctuation around introductory phrases and keep pronouns consistent; clearer clause construction will improve control.
