Student answer (Band 6.5)
While some people claim that it is important to save money by every individual including young people, others argue saving money is not essential. In this essay, I will discuss why saving money from an early age is beneficial.
Firstly, proponents of this view believe that saving money allows people to build an emergency fund, which can help individuals for unpredicatable life events. This is more crucial for young individuals who do not want to rely on their parents after they start working. For instance, due to technology advancements, entry-level roles are being redundant rapidly, it can take young few months to find their next job. In the meantime, the emergency fund allows that person to sustain by themselves until they are able to find a new job, while managing their essential expenses such as rent, utilities bills, and groceries. By having an emergency fund, they do not have to rely on their parents for financial aid. Therefore, it is crucial to save money for uncertain life events without being dependent on your family for funds.
Another compelling reason to save money for future is that it allows people to retire early in life and pursue their interest. This is because many people are stuck doing a job that they do not enjoy. By saving a small proportion of their income and investing it in an investment fund allows the money to grow and compund overtime. Individuals can accumulate and reach their retirement goal even by investing a small amount. This is why it is important to start investing your money in early age is given so much emphasis.
In conclusion, I strongly believe saving money for future is vital for everyone. Building this habit early in life enables people to build an emergency fund which acts as a cushion in unpredicatble life events. Moreover, people can retire early in their life by even saving a small percentage of their income.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
Your position is clear throughout: you strongly agree that saving is important, and both body paragraphs give relevant reasons. The emergency-fund example is particularly well extended, explaining how job loss could leave young people needing money for rent, utilities and groceries. You also address the future-planning aspect through investing and early retirement. This meets the task well, although the second reason is less fully developed: the claim that saving can enable early retirement and pursuing interests would benefit from a specific example or clearer explanation of how the investment plan leads to that outcome. The opening briefly presents an opposing view, but the essay does not explore it; a short acknowledgement of why some people may disagree would make the discussion more balanced and fully developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, two focused body paragraphs and a conclusion that restates your position. The progression from financial security to longer-term goals is logical, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “Another compelling reason” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the argument. Within the first body paragraph, the example develops in a sensible sequence from job loss to using savings for essential costs. Some linking is repetitive, however: “By having an emergency fund” and “Therefore” repeat the same point, while “This is why” makes the second paragraph’s final sentence feel like another conclusion. Use fewer formulaic transitions and connect the investment explanation more directly to the claim about retirement.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “emergency fund,” “entry-level roles,” “financial aid,” “investing” and “retirement goal.” These choices make the main ideas clear, and some phrases show an attempt to use more specific language. However, several spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision: “unpredicatable,” “compund” and “unpredicatble” are misspelled, while “roles are being redundant” is not the natural way to describe jobs disappearing. There are also awkward collocations such as “sustain by themselves” and “save money for future.” Check spelling carefully and learn common word partnerships for employment, financial security and long-term planning. More precise phrasing would make the argument sound more fluent and controlled.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You attempt a mix of simple and complex structures, including relative clauses (“which can help individuals”) and conditional reasoning (“until they are able to find a new job”). Most sentences remain understandable, but some grammatical errors occur. For example, “it can take young few months” is missing an article and a noun phrase needs correction; “By saving a small proportion of their income and investing it in an investment fund allows the money to grow” has a faulty sentence structure, because the introductory phrase does not match the subject of “allows.” The sentence beginning “This is why it is important…” also has an awkward construction. Practise checking articles, sentence subjects and verb agreement, especially in longer sentences. Breaking complex ideas into two accurate sentences can help preserve clarity.
