Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
Your position is clear: you agree that saving is important, and you give relevant reasons, including emergencies and future uncertainty. The examples of spending on cars, flights and homes also relate to the topic. However, the response addresses the task only partially because the discussion is brief and the reasons are asserted rather than explained with specific examples. The opening refers to young people, but the body does not explore their particular circumstances or why saving matters to them. The conclusion is also unfinished (“this essay discussed that saving money could help you”), leaving the final point incomplete. The response is 14 words below the required minimum. Develop each reason with an explanation or example, and complete the conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a concluding paragraph. Ideas are generally grouped by purpose: the first body paragraph describes present-day spending, while the next explains the value of saving. Linking expressions such as “For instance,” “In addition” and “Therefore” help signal relationships. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow, and some transitions are awkward or incorrectly used, as in “Despite, people are trying to climb…” The conclusion begins with “To recapitulates” and ends abruptly, so it does not provide a complete summary. Improve the logical links between claims and explanations, use transitions only where their meaning fits, and ensure each paragraph develops one complete point.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “fulfilling life,” “luxuries,” “competitive ladder” and “uncertainities,” and the reader can generally understand your main message. There are also attempts at less common expressions, such as “preposterous” and “safeguard.” However, the range is limited by repeated use of general terms such as “future,” “people” and “saving,” while several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unnatural. Examples include “oblivious generation,” “coziest flights” and “extra furnished homes”; spelling errors such as “Peope,” “purcahsing” and “emmergency” are also noticeable. These issues sometimes make the intended meaning less clear. Choose more precise, natural phrases and proofread spelling.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a reason clause (“It is because…”) and a contrast structure beginning “Despite…”. However, control is inconsistent, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to read. For example, “People in today’s era is” has subject–verb disagreement, while “everyone has too much to do in their present life rather than speculating about future” has unclear grammatical relationships. Several sentences begin with lowercase letters after full stops, and punctuation is missing around sentence boundaries, as in “safeguard.Despite”. The final sentence is incomplete. Practise accurate agreement, articles and sentence boundaries, and check that complex clauses are complete and correctly connected.
