Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear: you support saving, including by young people, and the essay gives relevant reasons such as educational needs and protection from future difficulties. The conclusion also restates the central argument. This meets the task well overall, but the support is uneven: the discussion of young people’s education is brief, and the opening paragraph promises a contrast with overspending without fully explaining why saving is preferable. The examples of luxury spending are broad rather than specific, and the consequences of not saving are asserted more than demonstrated. To strengthen the response, develop one or two reasons with a concrete example and explain how saving helps people meet future goals. Your position is present throughout, but fuller support would make it more convincing.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The ideas generally progress from present-day spending habits to the benefits of saving, and signposts such as “For instance,” “In addition” and “Therefore” help show relationships. However, some links feel mechanical or do not clearly connect the ideas. For example, “As a result of matching these standards” does not clearly explain the consequence of the spending examples, while “Despite people are trying…” introduces a contrast that is difficult to follow. The conclusion also combines several points in one long sentence. Use clearer topic sentences, make each supporting sentence explicitly explain the previous one, and check that linking expressions accurately express the intended relationship. This would make the progression smoother and referencing clearer.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “fulfilling life,” “uncertainties,” “competitive ladder” and “priority,” and the main message remains understandable. There are also noticeable problems with word choice, collocation, word form and spelling that sometimes make the reader pause. For instance, “speculating about future” is not a natural way to describe planning ahead, “luxury flights” is an awkward example in this context, and “building opportunies” appears to mean developing opportunities. “Casualitities” and “sheild” are misspelled, and “progressive life” is unclear. Aim for precise, natural combinations rather than elevated-sounding phrases; for example, use “plan for the future” and “financial security.” Proofreading spelling and checking collocations would improve clarity and control.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “because,” “rather than” and “Despite,” and the overall argument can be followed. However, some sentence structures and agreement patterns are inaccurate, and punctuation occasionally makes the sentences harder to process. In “People in today’s era is,” the plural subject requires a plural verb; “everyone has too much to do … rather than speculating” also needs a clearer parallel construction. “As a result of matching these standards has made…” is not a complete, well-formed clause, and “Despite people are trying…” incorrectly combines “despite” with a finite clause. The final sentence joins separate ideas with a comma. Practise building complex sentences accurately, especially with contrast and cause, and use full stops to separate complete thoughts.
