Student answer (Band 5.0)

I strongly agree with the statement that it is important for everyone, including young people, to save money for their future. In my point of view I think that i see many young people similar to my age needing money to even buy food. It is very important to save up money for future so that if we unfortunatley have to go through any financial crisis, we still have some money saved up. To demonstrate this saying, we can take a look at many of the government employees which after retirement do not save up enough money. They spend their funds money soon and when the funds end, they become bankrupt. These people lose their homes and families in this crisis. Their fate did not treat them well because they did not try to save up money for their future. If we take the example of young people, the school kids get their lunch money. Many kids spend it all but some kids use some and save up some. As a result, when they need some money to go on a field trip or for some project, they can easily use up their saved money. For young adults it is important to save up money in a way thatin hnear future if they want to do some bussiness, they can use their own money. In every age of life one needs some money for many tasks. So it is equally as important to save money for the future for all age groups.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear from the opening: you strongly agree that people of all ages should save, and you give relevant examples involving retired government employees, schoolchildren, and young adults starting a business. However, several points are asserted rather than fully explained—for example, the claim that retirees become bankrupt and lose their homes would be stronger with a clearer explanation or a more specific example. The response also ends without a developed conclusion, and the discussion is brief. It contains 238 words, below the 250-word minimum; the 14 words copied from the task prompt are not counted. Develop each reason further and add a concise conclusion to address the task more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable sequence: it introduces your view, discusses financial hardship, then gives examples for children and young adults. Linking phrases such as “To demonstrate this” and “As a result” help show connections between ideas. However, the essay is presented as one continuous paragraph, so the shifts between age groups are not clearly signposted. Some links are also repetitive or awkward, including repeated use of “save up money” and the transition “If we take the example of young people.” Organise the response into an introduction, separate body paragraphs for the main examples, and a conclusion. Use references and transitions that make the progression between points clearer.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate your main ideas, including “financial crisis,” “retirement,” “field trip,” and “business.” However, the range is limited and several expressions are repeated, particularly “save up money” and “important.” Some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unclear, such as “spend their funds money” and “Their fate did not treat them well.” Spelling errors, including “unfortunatley” and “bussiness,” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise financial vocabulary and check spelling carefully. For instance, describe people as using their savings or exhausting their funds, rather than combining “funds” and “money.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, and the main message is generally understandable. However, the range of structures is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. Examples include “In my point of view I think that i see,” which has an awkward, incomplete construction, and “in a way thatin hnear future,” where the sentence breaks down. There are also problems with sentence boundaries and punctuation, such as the long sequence of ideas about retirees. Practise building clear complex sentences with accurate clauses, and proofread for capitalisation, punctuation, and complete sentence structure. These changes would make your reasoning easier to read.
