Student answer (Band 6.0)
Saving money is extremely crucial for everyone, including young people for their future. I agree that saving money can be beneficial as they serve as a backup source of income in case things get hard. You never know when an economic downturn can hit or a person can be laid off from the job. In all the scenarios, having savings is the only way to survive the increasing cost of living.
Economic downturn affect each and everyone in the society when the cost of living increases and the purchasing power is low. The inflation hits and your salary remains the same, only the things keep getting expensive. That's where your savings come in. For example one might need them to pay their children's tuition fee, get groceries for an event or relocate from one place to another. Even stepping out of the house is expensive as impulse buying leads to spending more and sometimes it is out of control.
With the technology advancing, many people are being laid off from their jobs. With only savings, they can survie the day to day specially families with young kids. There is no certainty of when a job offer is received hence till then without an income support, savings can be used. Young people should start saving early as in start they don't have huge responsibilities on their shoulders as compared to their parents. This not only provides financial independancy but also a mental peace that one can always use their savings.
In conclusion, I agree that saving money is a neccessity that everyone should follow as a habit. It is not necessary to put big amounts aside, instead small amounts every month can turn out to be helpful towards the end. Parents should instill this habit in their kids early in their childhood so they don't find it hard to keep savings later in their life.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the opening and maintained through the conclusion: you agree that saving is important, and you address why this applies to young people as well as others. The points about inflation, job loss and starting to save before major responsibilities are relevant, with examples such as tuition fees and groceries helping to illustrate practical uses. This meets the task well, and the advice that small monthly amounts can help adds a useful qualification. To develop the response further, explain some points more fully: for instance, clarify how young people can balance saving with current expenses, or give a more specific example of how early saving benefits them. Some claims, such as savings being the “only way to survive,” are broad and would be stronger with more measured support.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The ideas generally progress from economic uncertainty to personal examples, then to the particular value of saving early. Linking phrases such as “For example,” “That’s where your savings come in” and “In conclusion” help guide the reader. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. The second paragraph moves from inflation to impulse buying without explaining the relationship, and “With only savings, they can survive” has an unclear reference to who “they” are. Repeated openings with “With” also make the progression feel less flexible. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each example explicitly to the paragraph’s main point.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “economic downturn,” “purchasing power,” “inflation,” “laid off” and “financial independence.” These terms help communicate the main ideas, and the meaning is generally clear. There are also some imprecise or unnatural choices: “backup source of income” is not quite accurate for savings, while “mental peace” and “survive the day to day” are less natural expressions in this context. Spelling errors such as “survie,” “independency” and “neccessity” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise collocations and check spelling carefully; this would make the vocabulary more controlled without requiring unnecessarily complex words.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional and subordinate clauses, as in “You never know when an economic downturn can hit” and “Young people should start saving early as in start they don’t have huge responsibilities.” Most sentences communicate the intended meaning, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “Economic downturn affect” needs subject–verb agreement, and “the inflation hits and your salary remains the same, only the things keep getting expensive” joins ideas awkwardly. The sentence beginning “With only savings” also lacks a clear subject. Work on agreement, sentence boundaries and clearer clause construction, while retaining your attempts at longer structures.
