Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear throughout: you strongly agree that people, especially young people, should save for the future. You address several relevant reasons, including unexpected illness or job loss, education, housing and starting a business, and the examples help connect these points to real situations. This covers the task, but some ideas are more fully addressed than others. The discussion of emergencies is illustrated, while the claims about saving for education and business are mostly listed rather than explained in detail. The point that saving teaches financial responsibility is also introduced but not developed. To strengthen the response, explain how each reason supports your position and develop one or two examples more fully. The stated length requirement is met; 12 words copied from the task prompt were not counted.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs, a further paragraph beginning “In my opinion,” and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “At first,” “Secondly,” and “In the conclusion” make the main stages easy to identify. However, progression is weakened by repetition: the ideas about education and unexpected difficulties appear again in the later paragraph, and the conclusion repeats several points without adding a clear synthesis. Some links between sentences are also abrupt, particularly the shift from saving for a business to borrowing to help others. Use each paragraph to develop a distinct reason, connect examples directly to that reason, and reduce repeated claims so the argument moves forward more smoothly.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “health emergencies,” “financial responsibilities,” “study abroad,” and “financial security.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the reader pause. For example, “business lose,” “lose to job,” and “saving money” do not express the intended ideas naturally; “business losses,” “job loss,” and “savings” would be more appropriate. There are also spelling errors such as “difficultie,” “responsiblities,” and “aboard” where you mean “abroad.” Aim to use a wider set of precise terms for financial planning and future needs, and check spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. Some grammatical errors, however, recur across the response. Examples include “At first, save money is important,” where a gerund subject is needed, and “It also help students,” where the verb must agree with its subject. Verb forms are also problematic in “a person who is suffer” and “he spend saving”; these should be recast with accurate tense and structure. Articles, plurals and sentence boundaries need attention as well, as in “In these situation” and the long opening sentence joined by a comma. Practise building accurate sentences with subordinate clauses, then proofread for subject–verb agreement, verb forms and punctuation.
