Student answer (Band 5.0)

In today's, money is very important for everyone, including young people. Without money, we can't survive in our countries because today's inflation rate is so high that the normal, middle class, and the lower class barely survive in their countries.

They don't have their own businesses they just survive with the normal salaries they get from their jobs. That's why they can't save their money properly. However, it is crucial for them to save their money for their future, including young people, and it's also beneficial for them to save their small amount of money for their own future.

We know that the poverty rate is so high due to inflation, and it is commonly assumed that it is just because of the government of our country. The government of the country is not doing its work properly that's why the lower class and middle class suffer all the consequences and the elite class os the country is living their lives properly and they have sufficient money they can survive their lives easily and happily.

I agree with this statement that it is very important for everyone, including young people, to save money for their future. It is very crucial for their own future if in the future you don't have a job, then you can invest your savings in anything, like a business that you can earn money from, or you can also invest money in other things that you can get profit from and easily earn from your investment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

Your position is clear in the final paragraph: you agree that everyone, including young people, should save. You also give a relevant reason—that savings could be invested in a business or other assets if someone loses a job. However, the response only partly develops the task: most of the earlier discussion focuses on inflation, poverty and government responsibility, rather than explaining why saving matters or considering its limits for people on low incomes. The investment examples are asserted but not explained or illustrated. The response is 239 words, so it is 11 words below the required minimum; the 12 words copied from the prompt are not counted. Develop your main reason with a specific example and address the difficulty of saving on a low salary.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has some organisation: it moves from the economic context to a statement of agreement and then to a possible use for savings. Linking expressions such as “However,” “That’s why” and “I agree” help signal relationships between ideas. Nevertheless, there is no clear overall progression because the first three paragraphs repeat points about inflation, social classes and financial hardship before the main argument appears. Several sentences also contain multiple ideas joined together, making the relationships harder to follow. For example, the discussion of the elite class and the lower and middle classes could be separated from the argument about saving. Use a focused paragraph for each main reason, and make each paragraph advance the answer rather than repeat background information.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “inflation rate,” “poverty rate,” “salaries,” “invest” and “profit,” so the reader can understand the financial context and your proposed benefit of saving. However, the range is limited by repeated general words and phrases, especially “money,” “future,” “important” and “survive.” Some expressions are imprecise or unnatural, such as “save their money properly,” “earn from your investment” and “the elite class … is living their lives properly.” There is also a spelling error in “os.” Aim for more precise collocations and vary repeated terms—for example, refer to “build savings,” “financial security” or “generate a return.” This would make your argument clearer and more appropriately academic.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt some complex sentences, including the explanation beginning “Without money” and the conditional idea about not having a job. However, the response relies heavily on simple patterns, and longer sentences are often not controlled well. For instance, “They don’t have their own businesses they just survive…” joins two independent clauses without suitable punctuation, while “if in the future you don’t have a job, then you can invest your savings” shifts from “they” to “you.” The opening “In today’s, money…” also has an incomplete time expression. These errors sometimes make the reader pause, although the main meaning remains understandable. Practise separating clauses with full stops or conjunctions, maintaining consistent pronouns, and checking sentence boundaries.
