Student answer (Band 5.5)

A contentious issue in modern society is to have some money for the better future. I strongly agreed to this statement because it is the need for the life and its something precious that needs to be saved.

Firstly, Money is the basic need for the better life because in todays world it is so difficult to imagine life without having bank balance or having cash in your wallet. Every single necessity of life requires money. So in general we can say that life could not be imagined without money. For instance if we want to drove a car we need a fuel and in order to purchase fuel we need money. Also, if we want to eat a healthy dinner or take any kind of medicine money is the basic thing that we must have. Young people also have to say money because if the keep spending it in a unusual way then might comes a time when they do not have a single peeny to even buy a food for themselves.

Equally significant is the fact is that money is something that can be very precious it must be saved by not spending it in an unusual ways. It is very difficult to earn. Young people usually do not knows its true worth as they take money from their parents and they even do not know how to earn it. But when they starts earning it then they comes to know its true worth. If they want to have higher education money is equally important to manage their dues.

Overall, money is something that needs to be used in a much more sensible way. It needs to be saved for future education and spendings.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you strongly agree that people, including young people, should save money. You support this with relevant points about everyday necessities, unexpected needs, and the cost of higher education. The examples of buying fuel, food, and medicine help connect the argument to practical life. However, the first body paragraph focuses largely on needing money rather than explaining why saving for the future is important, and the point about young people spending unwisely is not developed with a specific consequence or example. The second paragraph also makes a useful point about learning money’s value, but its link to future security could be clearer. Develop these ideas with fuller explanations and examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a coherent overall structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present supporting points, and a conclusion restates the main message. Paragraphs are generally focused, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “Equally significant,” and “Overall” make the sequence easy to follow. Some connections are mechanical or unclear, however. For example, “Equally significant is the fact is that” repeats the linking structure, while the shift from money’s general importance to young people’s saving habits is abrupt. The conclusion introduces “future education” but does not bring together the earlier points about necessities and financial security. Use clearer links between each claim and its explanation, and make the conclusion summarise the argument more precisely.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “basic need,” “true worth,” “higher education,” and “sensible way,” so the main ideas are understandable. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors make the expression less natural. Examples include “better future,” “save money” expressed as “say money,” “unusual way,” and “a single peeny.” Some phrases are also imprecise, such as “manage their dues” and “spendings.” Aim for more accurate financial vocabulary and check spelling carefully. Using terms such as “build savings,” “financial security,” and “living expenses” would help you express the argument more precisely without relying on repeated general references to money.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including conditional structures such as “if they keep spending it … then might comes a time” and clauses beginning with “because” and “when.” This gives the response some structural variety, but errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction are persistent and sometimes make the reader pause. For example, “I strongly agreed” does not match the present position, “Young people usually do not knows” has incorrect agreement, and “when they starts earning it then they comes” contains several verb-form errors. There are also run-on or awkwardly joined sentences, such as “Every single necessity of life requires money. So in general…” Practise accurate present-tense forms and build complex sentences with clear clause boundaries.
